Overview
This position is responsible for ensuring the water discharged to the city is in compliance with our operating permit. To ensure the wastewater to the city complies, the technician must maintain a system of wastewater treatment processes by recording metered values and following instructions to properly adjust the water quality into acceptable ranges before discharging.
Essential Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Responsible for monitoring wastewater discharge per regulatory specifications.
- Record PH levels, pump setting, and water flows.
- Fill chemical tanks as needed for continued wastewater treatment.
- Understand and adjust chemical additives as required to ensure water quality meets Pioneer specifications.
- Empty filter press per schedule.
- Assist in any spill clean-up operations.
- Maintain an organized and clean operating area, including cleaning empty drums if needed.
- Work closely with production personnel to maintain tank dump schedules.
- General cleaning/maintenance of waste treatment equipment.
- Serve as back-up to the Lab Tech position, as it relates to chemical analysis and additions.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Work Environment
- Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted
- Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heavy carts, moving machinery, occasional hot and cold temperature and humidity levels, heat from ovens, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, compressed air (must use hearing protection)
- Potential splash exposure near process lines
- Responsibilities are repetitive in nature.
- Exposure to various chemicals used in process
- Wear Protective gear deemed necessary for the job.
Experience and Education
- High-School diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to effectively utilize language: speaking, reading, and writing.
- Must possess effective verbal and interpersonal communication.
