DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
JOB TITLE: Facility Maintenance Worker
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
FLSA: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
PAY: $19.00 / hour
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager, assists in the repair and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems. Set up electrical power and lighting controls for events.
Major Responsibilities
- Inventories all tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Works extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Performs corrective, preventative maintenance and upgrades on select systems.
- Performs tasks in a timely manner with a high regard for quality that is consistent with the needs of the Jekyll Island Convention Center.
- Installs electrical power for exhibitors, clients, and vendors.
- Adjusts lighting controls for exhibitors, clients, and vendors.
- Performs facility painting, light bulb changes, filter changes, patching, and general repairs as needed.
- Conducts interior and exterior rounds and reports unusual events.
- Uses aerial motorized equipment to perform lightweight rigging of banners, lights, etc.
- Recommends and plans preventive maintenance programs for facility equipment, repairs, and systems through Legends Global’s ALTUM, and manages the work order process.
- Maintains records for equipment inventory and maintenance performed on all building machines and equipment.
- Ensures adherence to safety codes, including OSHA guidelines and other safety-related standards.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Working Conditions
This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Physical requirements include the ability to communicate verbally and the ability to lift 50 to 75 lbs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A high school diploma.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn required business systems.
- 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in facility maintenance.
- Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with blueprints is a plus.
- Demonstrates a professional appearance and work ethic.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Must have or obtain aerial lift certificate
