The ECBE department has acquired some prototyping machines to make printed circuit boards (PCBs) for lab courses, capstone projects, and competition teams. Similar to the organization of the Maker Web, this work study position is devoted to operating the PCB fabrication machines.

Supervisor: Daniel Loeffert

Hours/Shifts Available: Days (up to 4 hours/week)

Rate of Pay: $9.70/hr

Number of Positions available: 2

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Instruct students and other work-study students on using the PCB prototyping machines

  • Make PCBs for ECE capstone students, lab courses (ECE 248 and 363), competition teams (e.g. Baja), and research projects.

  • Maintain the PCB machines (e.g., replace broken bits, re-align the machine).

Qualifications:

  • Taken ECE-225 (or equivalent).

  • Experience with soldering, circuit design and fabrication.

  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, KiCad)

  • Experience with prototyping tools (e.g., 3d printing, micromilling machine).
