The Boeing CompanyBoeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) has an exciting opportunity for an autonomous aircraft Senior Experimental Test Pilot to join our MQ-25A Stingray test team at Patuxent River, MD.
As an MQ-25A Air Vehicle Pilot (AVP), you will be on the leading edge of Developmental Test operating the Navy’s newest Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) as it enters ground and flight test. As Pilot-in-Command, you will be responsible for planning and executing various ground and flight tests to bring a critical capability to the carrier fleet safely and efficiently. You will provide support and mature guidance to a professional team of aircrew and engineers for the EMD test phase and beyond.
Position Responsibilities Include:
Serves as Pilot-In-Command for MQ-25A air vehicles
Plans and conducts engineering and experimental test flights
Supports requirements development, acts as subject matter expert on all performance aspects of aircraft design, PVI development and assessment, subject matter expert for flight test activities to include operating limitations development, safety planning, flight test planning, test card development, test execution and reporting
Plans and executes ground tests and flight tests for experimental and production aircraft to determine system functionality, handling quality performance, flutter tests, loads tests, structural integrity, and performance of flight control systems, vehicle management systems, missions systems, and weapon systems
Develops and coordinates flight test plans, procedures and techniques to achieve qualification or certification and meet test plan objectives
Writes technical reports and flight reports and provides input for developing and modifying flight manuals and related documents
Evaluates flight data (e.g., system performance, aircraft handling, equipment function) and participates in aircraft and aircraft system design to recommend changes to design based on operational considerations
Collaborates on marketing, evaluation, and demonstration activities for customers
Assures flight activities comply with regulatory standards and company policies and procedures
Works with government representatives and customers to resolve issues
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
Test Pilot School (TPS) Graduate
FAA Commercial Certificate or FAA ATP with appropriate endorsements
Current FAA Class II medical certificate or the ability to obtain one
1,000 hours of aircrew time in relevant aircraft, to include fighters, trainers, carrier aircraft and/or military UAS
Ability to comprehend and effectively communicate complex ideas and flight test concepts in writing and orally
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experimental flight test experience
Civil Aviation Experience
Developmental flight test experience
UAS flight test and/or operational experience
US Navy carrier aviation experience
