We're looking for a Credit Control Team Leader to join the Finance team at Cromwell Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing credit control function, supporting the financial sustainability of one of Bupa's flagship healthcare facilities.

As a Credit Control Team Leader, you'll provide leadership across key debtor portfolios including insurers, corporate customers, international clients and NHS-related balances. You'll help drive effective cash collection, improve processes and controls, and ensure the team is focused on areas of greatest financial opportunity and risk.

This role combines people leadership, stakeholder management and operational excellence, offering the opportunity to influence outcomes across Finance, Commercial Finance and operational teams while supporting exceptional patient and customer experiences.

How you’ll help us make health happen

  • Lead the B2B credit control function, defining collection strategies and priorities across multiple portfolios.

  • Monitor portfolio performance across Cromwell Hospital, London Medical and Canary Wharf operations, ensuring effective debt management and cash collection.

  • Manage insurer and company related debt portfolios, ensuring high-risk balances are identified and escalated appropriately.

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of credit control professionals through regular performance reviews, objective setting and development support.

  • Establish and monitor KPIs relating to collections performance, productivity and service delivery by controller

  • Act as an escalation point for complex account disputes, complaints and credit control issues.

  • Analyse aged debt trends, insurance shortfalls and portfolio risks, providing recommendations to senior stakeholders.

  • Build strong relationships with Finance, Commercial Finance, operational teams and external payors to resolve issues efficiently and improve outcomes.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including process simplification, automation and control enhancements.

  • Ensure compliance with governance, documentation and data management requirements

Key Skills/Qualifications needed for this role

We're looking for someone who can combine strong financial and operational expertise with outstanding leadership skills.

  • Significant experience in credit control leadership within healthcare, insurance, finance operations or a complex B2B environment is essential

  • Experience leading and developing teams to achieve challenging performance targets is required

  • Previous experience within private healthcare or insurance would be advantageous specifically the aged debt process and insurer shortfall resolution.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial risk, identify trends and make informed decisions.

  • Experience managing escalations, complaints, complex account disputes and aged debt portfolios.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.

  • Strong reporting and data analysis capabilities, including intermediate Excel skills e.g sumif, vlookups, PIVOT tables

  • Experience delivering process improvement, automation and operational efficiency initiatives.

  • A strong understanding of governance, controls and finance operations processes.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders as well as patients and hospital consultants

  • Demonstrable experience using Compucare is desirable but not essential.

**A CICM (Chartered Institute of Credit Management) qualification would be highly desirable.
