Engineering Intern - DevOps

Programme start date: 9 November 2026

Our Engineering Internship has been crafted to simulate our Engineering Graduate Programme so that you can understand what a career in Engineering at LSEG would really be like.  

To be eligible, you must be a penultimate- or final-year students graduating due to complete your degree between summer 2027 to summer 2028 and studying in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).

During your time with us you will have the opportunity to explore potential career paths by working within our LSEG Markets Engineering as an Engineering Intern focusing on DevOps Engineer field.

We offer a wide range DevOps roles which will allow you to explore one of the following technologies: 

• UNIX/Linux, SQL, and RDBMS
• Scripting knowledge Python, Bash or Perl
• Object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java)

Main responsibilities during your 6-month internship

• Help configure DevOps tools (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery) for the team and monitor the DevOps infrastructure.
• Involve in scripting and automate mundane tasks.
• Plan and implement automated test suites.
• Evaluate various DevOps tools.
• Document internal processes.

We will also support you in discovering more about the areas of LSEG by connecting you with the relevant departments so that you can learn more about them. All the while you will be applying your new skills to real world business challenges, through project-based learning. 

These are real roles; as an intern, you play a part in the success of our organisation, just like you would do as a graduate. 

What we are looking for: 

We are passionate about recruiting people who are interested in pursuing a career within Engineering and would like to learn about the full breadth of our business – and are interested in playing a part of our development, as it grows and diversifies. 

• A curiosity for data and an ability to analyse information to draw conclusions and propose solutions. 
• Individuals who are able to connect the dots and think strategically.  
• The environment we work in is fast paced, you’ll need to demonstrate focus, resilience and the flexibility to adapt to changing demands. 
• People who can collaborate with others, using their communication skills in the process. 
• Some knowledge in UNIX/Linux, SQL, and RDBMS, an understanding with Oracle and AWS would be a plus.
• Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, Bash, Perl).
• Basic skills in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java).
• Understanding of CI/CD processes is a plus.
• Studying Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
• Ideal candidates will have the rights to work in the Sri Lanka without restrictions for the duration of the internship programme
• Candidates who can join the programme from Nov 2026 and stay with us for 6 months.

You will stand out to us if you can demonstrate and recognise that what you achieve is equally important as how you achieve it.

Recruitment Process:

The first stage of the recruitment process involves making an application and submitting your resume. The second stage is completing Technical and Coding Assessment. The third stage of the application process is an Immersive Online Assessment. The assessment is designed to give you an insight into what it’s like to work at LSEG The fourth stage is a video interview where you will answer a series of questions using a strength-based-interview style The final stage is a half day assessment centre which involves several different types of exercises – further information is provided at the point of invite.
