Description

The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) is a University Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University Singapore that conducts fundamental research on earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and climate change in and around Southeast Asia, towards safer and more sustainable societies.

EOS maintains a regional network of geophysical observation stations in collaboration with neighboring countries in Southeast Asia, that are supported by the EOS Centre for Geohazard Observations, as well as a Remote Sensing Lab (EOS-RS). Computational resources are available through a dedicated cluster and collaboration with the High-Performance Computing Centre of NTU. In addition, EOS hosts state-of-the-art analytical facilities for petrological and geochemical analysis, and a Community Engagement office that co-creates learning opportunities for a range of audiences to promote a safer and more sustainable future.

EOS seeks a diverse and inclusive workforce and is committed to equality of opportunity. We welcome applications from all and recruit on the basis of merit, regardless of age, race, gender, religion, marital status and family responsibilities, or disability.

We are looking for a Research Fellow (RF) to join EOS. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Asst Prof Lujia FENG and focus on GNSS data processing and analysis for tectonic deformation studies. The primary purpose of this position is to conduct high-quality research using geodetic observations to quantify crustal deformation, characterize fault-slip processes, and improve our understanding of earthquake hazards. The candidate will develop and maintain GNSS processing workflows, contribute to the interpretation of geodetic observations, and support ongoing research projects within the tectonics and geodesy research programme. The RF is also expected to contribute actively to other research activities within EOS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an automated post-processing workflow for GNSS data analysis using multiple software packages, including PRIDE PPP-AR, GAMIT/GLOBK, and GipsyX

  • Process raw GNSS data, analyze position time series, and estimate station velocities and associated uncertainties

  • Compile and assess published GNSS velocity fields for Southeast Asia

  • Contribute to the integration of InSAR and GNSS observations and the development of deformation fields, strain-rate maps, and geodetic models

  • Present scientific results at local and international meetings and conferences

  • Write up research results for publication in reputable international journals

  • Assist with data management, documentation, and the preparation of technical reports

  • Participate actively in research meetings, project discussions, and progress reporting

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in geodesy or related field

  • At least 3 years of relevant experiences in GNSS data processing

  • Strong computation skills with experience using MATLAB and/or Python

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Evidence of being able to work both independently and collaboratively, with a strong team spirit

We seek a diverse and inclusive workforce and is committed to equality of opportunity. We welcome applications from all and recruit on the basis of merit, regardless of age, race, gender, religion, marital status and family responsibilities, or disability.

We regret to inform you that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
