The Opportunity

As the Manager of Public Relations & Consumer Storytelling at FICO, you will help tell the story of one of the most trusted financial tools in the United States, the FICO® Score. This role is ideal for a consumer-first communicator who can translate complex financial concepts into clear, compelling stories that build understanding and trust with the public.

Working closely with senior communications leaders and cross-functional partners, you will help execute consumer-facing communications, support media relations, and develop proactive storytelling across product innovation, consumer education, data insights, and financial well-being.

What You'll Contribute

  • Help develop and execute consumer communications and media outreach strategies that increase awareness, understanding, and trust in FICO Scores.
  • Bring creative ideas and a strong consumer lens to the team’s storytelling and media programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with consumer, personal finance, and mainstream reporters; proactively pitch stories and help manage inbound media inquiries.
  • Write and develop high-quality communications materials, including press releases, media pitches, Q&As, talking points, consumer explainer blogs, etc.
  • Support consumer-facing narratives around product launches, score and credit education, data insights, and broader financial literacy topics.
  • Partner with product, analytics, legal, marketing, and other stakeholders to ensure communications are accurate, timely, and aligned with business priorities.
  • Prepare and support spokespeople for interviews, briefings, and media engagements, helping ensure clarity, confidence, and message consistency.
  • Monitor media coverage, consumer conversations, and industry trends to identify proactive storytelling opportunities and flag emerging issues or risks.
  • Track and analyze earned media performance, translating results into useful insights and recommendations for the communications team and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage assigned projects from planning through execution, keeping workstreams organized, stakeholders informed, and deliverables on track.

What We're Seeking

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 4-7+ years of experience in communications, media relations, or public relations, with meaningful experience in consumer-facing communications; experience in financial services, fintech, or another highly regulated industry is strongly preferred. Applicants with agency experience is encouraged.
  • Proven ability to simplify complex topics and craft clear, compelling messages for consumer and mainstream media audiences.
  • Well versed in the evolving media landscape and able to craft stories tailored to specific audiences and platforms.
  • Experience developing press materials and building media relationships across consumer, financial, or business outlets.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage communications projects and move work from concept through execution with appropriate guidance and collaboration.
  • Highly collaborative, with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Comfort managing multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience using PR tools such as Muck Rack for media monitoring, outreach, and reporting.
  • Proactive, curious, and comfortable taking ownership, asking smart questions, and looking for ways to improve the work.

  • An engaging, people-first work environment offering work/life balance, employee resource groups, and social events to promote interaction and camaraderie.
