Senior Manager, Controllership

Position Summary...

The Senior Manager, Store Operations Controllership, supports the accounting and financial integrity of Walmart’s U.S. store operations. This role owns recurring controllership activities while partnering with Finance, Operations, Product, Technology, and other accounting teams to understand results, resolve issues, and support changes to the business. The Senior Manager is responsible for strong accounting execution, clear financial reporting, and effective controls, while also helping improve the processes and systems that support store accounting. The role requires someone who can operate the business day to day, understand how store activity impacts the financials, and help build better ways of working over time.

About the team:

The Store Operations Controllership team supports the core activities occurring across Walmart’s more than 4,000 U.S. stores. The team owns close, financial statement accuracy, controls, issue resolution, and the accounting impact of changes to store operations. We work closely with Store Operations, Finance, Product, Technology, and other Controllership teams to ensure business activity is reflected accurately in financial and management reporting. At Walmart’s scale, small changes in store processes can have significant financial impact. The team combines strong accounting fundamentals with business understanding, cross-functional partnership, and a focus on building processes and systems that can operate reliably at scale.

What you'll do...

• Own recurring accounting activities supporting store operations, including close, reconciliations, reporting, and issue resolution.
• Analyze store and segment results and help explain financial drivers to Finance and business partners.
• Partner with Operations, Finance, Product, Technology, and Controllership on business and process changes.
• Evaluate accounting and control impacts of new or changing store processes.
• Lead projects that improve the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of store accounting.
• Identify root causes of accounting, data, and control issues and drive them to resolution.
• Communicate accounting conclusions, financial impacts, and risks clearly to stakeholders and leadership.

What you'll bring...

• Strong accounting fundamentals and experience applying U.S. GAAP and internal control concepts.
• Ability to manage recurring accounting responsibilities while also leading projects and process improvements.
• Strong business understanding and curiosity about how store operations translate into financial results.
• Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop practical solutions.
• Experience working across Finance, Operations, Product, Technology, and other functional teams.
• Strong judgment and the ability to operate effectively when the answer is not immediately clear.
• Clear communication skills, including the ability to translate accounting complexity into business language.
• CPA or equivalent experience in a large, complex environment preferred.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and 4 years’ experience in finance, accounting, or related area OR 6 years’ experience in finance, accounting, or related area. 1 year’s supervisory experience.
