What you will do:
Sets up and operates various types of CNC, DNC and conventional milling machines and lathes that comprise a machine cell to manufacture parts to close tolerances.
Performs operations on individual or quantity production, tooling or experimental parts.
Selects mounts and aligns various machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling.
Sets and adjusts speed, feeds and depths of cut.
Edits programs on CNC equipment.
Conducts inspection to ensure parts or assemblies meet drawing specifications and tolerances.
Sharpens or grinds cutting tools.
Performs routine maintenance on the equipment.
Issues purchase orders to outside vendors, e.g., heat treat, plate, paint, etc.
Technicians will be involved in all phases of work in the cell from receiving, pulling raw material, machining, and assembling, inspecting, packaging through shipment of the finished product to the customer.
Maintains a clean and orderly machine and work area.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of High School/Vocational Technical Training in machine tools with emphasis in shop math and basic computer skills or equivalent experience.
Five years of directly related experience.
Physical Demands: (if applicable)
Continuous standing and walking use of hand tools to torque, pushing, and pulling.
Occasional climbing, carrying, bending and stooping.
Requires lifting/carrying 50 pounds occasionally, 33 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
Works in heated, ventilated shop. Occasional exposure to disagreeable elements such as heat or cold; some dirt or grease.
Frequent exposure to noise. Personal protective equipment required includes hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed footwear.
Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing.
