Principal Responsibilities
1. Define requirements & standards for design, operation, and maintenance of building automation systems and network on three campuses, and including JCI, Siemens, ALC, and Tridium systems. 2. Serve as primary point of contact for ITS in supporting network development, health, & security, as well as server requirements for the building automation system. Provide appropriate training & technical specification information to ITS to facilitate ongoing collaboration and planning. 3. Coordinate with necessary personnel in Facilities Operations to establish and enforce a process to ensure long-term building automation system integrity, including hard-copy and electronic documentation of installed systems, software library, programming logic archives, graphical interface, user access, and overall change management needs. 4. Convene regularly-scheduled meetings with building automation vendors on campus to review campus-wide building automation administrative issues, including active projects, staffing, planned upgrades, training, integration challenges, network health, and technical developments. 5. Administer annual software service agreements with each building automation vendor that includes planned upgrades, system enhancements, software updates, network and security scans. 6. Evaluate and manage initiatives, in partnership with Operations, associated with campus-level building automation system and performance, which may include automatic fault diagnostics and detection, seasonal system scheduling, metering, load shed activities, and other activities that utilize and impact the building automation system as a whole. 7. Manage additional building automation system projects as necessary by retaining qualified outside engineering consultants and contractors. Prepare work scopes and/or requests for proposal to support project execution. Oversee engineering consultants and contractors to ensure high quality project delivery as well as conformance to established schedule and budget. Maintain involvement in and/or directly oversee project execution and represent findings in oral and/or written format as needed. 8. Perform analysis of building-level system performance and investigation of system issues within priority campus buildings to direct, support, or complete formulation & implementation of energy projects as well as maintaining continued efficient system operation. 9. Coordinate with necessary personnel across Facilities Operations, as well as outside consultants and contractors, to communicate and address building performance & energy issues. 10. Communicate with university customers, (i.e. heads of colleges, deans, department heads, business managers, students, outside contractors) to provide data, information about energy performance processes & methodology, and address system performance issues. 11. Participate in the formulation, design, construction, & commissioning of projects overseen by the capital projects group. Review the work as needed of design professionals with respect to University objectives & design standards, integration, operability and maintainability and cost-effectiveness. Provide feedback & assistance to project managers & design professionals regarding all aspects of anticipated building performance & controls system design. 12. Support the project turnover processes with regard to building automation system, including verifying appropriateness of graphical interface, trending, alarming, system documentation, and ongoing performance. 13. Manage building performance & energy projects as needed by retaining qualified engineering consultants and contractors. Prepare work scopes/requests for proposal to support project execution.
