We are looking for an experienced Mechanical QA/QC Engineer to oversee and ensure the quality of mechanical installation works for a Data Center project for our client JLW. The role will be responsible for implementing project quality requirements, conducting inspections and testing, reviewing technical documentation, monitoring mechanical installation activities, and ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, ITPs, method statements, and applicable international standards. The candidate should have strong experience in Data Center / Mission Critical projects and hands-on knowledge of mechanical MEP systems, including HVAC, chilled water, cooling systems, piping, pumps, AHUs/CRAH units, ventilation, and associated mechanical equipment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement and maintain the project QA/QC procedures and quality requirements for mechanical works.
  • Inspect mechanical installation activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and project requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and implement Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, and inspection procedures.
  • Conduct inspections of mechanical systems and equipment, including:
    • HVAC systems
    • Chilled water piping and systems
    • CRAH/CRAC units
    • AHUs and ventilation systems
    • Pumps and mechanical equipment
    • Valves and associated piping
    • Cooling and heat rejection systems
    • Domestic water and drainage systems
  • Coordinate with construction teams, consultants, vendors, and client representatives for inspections and approvals.
  • Review material submittals, technical documentation, MIRs, WIRs, and material certificates.
  • Ensure all materials and equipment installed on site are approved and comply with project specifications.
  • Monitor installation quality and identify non-conformities, defects, and quality issues.
  • Raise and follow up on NCRs, observations, and corrective actions until satisfactory closure.
  • Witness and coordinate mechanical testing and inspection activities, including pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, equipment testing, and system verification.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, quality documentation, test reports, and project quality dossiers.
  • Review mechanical installation works for proper alignment, supports, workmanship, access, labeling, insulation, and overall installation quality.
  • Coordinate with commissioning teams to ensure mechanical systems are properly completed and ready for testing and commissioning.
  • Participate in pre-functional checks, testing, commissioning, and handover activities where required.
  • Ensure proper documentation and traceability of inspections, testing, approvals, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance with project QA/QC requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Support preparation of as-built documentation, handover dossiers, and final quality records.
  • Ensure all works comply with applicable international standards, local regulations, client requirements, and project specifications.
  • Provide regular quality reports and updates to the QA/QC Manager.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in Mechanical QA/QC.
  • Proven experience in Data Center / Mission Critical projects is strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience in mechanical MEP construction, installation, inspection, and testing.
  • Good knowledge of HVAC, chilled water systems, mechanical piping, pumps, CRAH/CRAC units, AHUs, ventilation, and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Experience working with ITPs, method statements, checklists, MIRs, WIRs, NCRs, material approvals, and quality documentation.
  • Experience with mechanical testing activities such as pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, equipment testing, and pre-commissioning.
  • Strong understanding of relevant ASHRAE, ASME, SMACNA, NFPA, ASTM, and applicable project/client standards.
  • Ability to review engineering drawings, specifications, shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documents.
  • Experience coordinating with consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives.
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures and construction quality control practices.
  • Experience supporting commissioning and project handover is an advantage.
  • Strong communication, reporting, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant QA/QC certifications such as ISO 9001, ASQ, or equivalent will be an advantage.
  • UAE/GCC data center or large-scale MEP project experience will be an added advantage.
