The Superior Court of California, County of Riverside is seeking detail-oriented, adaptable, and service-driven professionals to join our team of Courtroom Assistants.
This unique opportunity combines the responsibilities of a Courtroom Assistant and Court Services Assistant III, offering a dynamic role for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy variety in their work, and take pride in supporting the administration of justice. The OpportunityAs a Courtroom Assistant, you'll contribute to the efficient and orderly administration of justice through a combination of specialized courtroom and court services responsibilities.
This position is a combined assignment in which employees will be expected to perform the duties of both a Courtroom Assistant and Court Services Assistant III. Assignments will vary based on the Court's operational needs and may require employees to transition between courtroom proceedings and Court Services Assistant III functions.
This opportunity is ideal for experienced court professionals who are comfortable navigating complex procedures, managing competing priorities, and providing accurate, timely, and professional service in a variety of settings.
What You'll DoInside the Courtroom
Support judicial officers during court proceedings by reviewing calendars, organizing case files, and ensuring necessary records and reference materials are available.
Accurately document court proceedings, judicial rulings, and court actions by preparing official minute entries.
Prepare and process court orders, judgments, warrants, writs, and other legal documents.
Administer oaths and affirmations, process exhibits, and perform other specialized courtroom functions
Update and maintain accurate case records in the Court's automated case management system.
Communicate with attorneys, Court staff, and outside agencies to facilitate the timely processing of court actions.
Performing Court Services Assistant III Functions
- Coordinate and assign clerical work, train staff on Court processes and procedures, and provide technical guidance on complex or difficult assignments.
- Research and resolve complex case processing issues, including filing discrepancies and procedural challenges, to ensure cases move forward efficiently.
- Review, receive, and process legal documents across multiple Court divisions, ensuring completeness, timeliness, and compliance with applicable legal requirements.
- Review case files to identify outstanding processing requirements and take appropriate action to ensure case readiness.
- Schedule court appearances and hearings, prepare and update court calendars, and coordinate case readiness and courtroom availability.
- Attend calendar calls and communicate case status, trial readiness, and courtroom availability to appropriate staff.
- Assist the public by explaining Court procedures, filing requirements, and available resources while providing professional and courteous service.
- Interpret and apply new Court procedures and processes and communicate effectively with Court staff and outside agencies.
- Provide operational support across Court divisions and branches as needed to address changing workloads and staffing demands.
Flexibility is essential. Employees must be prepared to perform both courtroom and Court Services Assistant III responsibilities as assigned, adapting to changing priorities and operational demands.
