JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

The Utah County Health Department seeks to prevent avoidable disease and injury and promote health by monitoring the health of the community and assuring conditions in which people can be healthy.

 

POSITION: Environmental Health Scientist – Part Time, No Benefits                         

Area of Focus: Food Establishments


The Opportunity:

Under the general supervision of a Food Protection Bureau Supervisor, independently conducts inspections of retail food establishments and mobile food businesses to evaluate compliance with applicable food safety laws and regulations. Provides education and technical assistance to food establishment operators, documents inspection findings, and works with operators to identify and correct food safety concerns. May assist with complaint investigations, temporary food events, and other Food Protection Bureau activities as assigned. 


Starting Pay: $30.74 - $35.35 based upon experience

Work Schedule: This position is expected to work an average of approximately 20 hours per week. Work hours are highly flexible and may include any combination of weekdays, evenings, and weekends. The employee may establish their own work schedule based on availability and Bureau workload and inspection needs.


Job Qualifications:

1.       Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university that includes thirty (30) credit hours in the natural sciences or a closely related field.

2.       One (1) year of related work experience. 

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

1.       Applicants must be licensed through the State of Utah as an Environmental Health Scientist.
