Position Title: Digital Marketing & Communications Coordinator
Department: Development
FLSA Status: Full Time Hourly/Non-Exempt
Schedule: 40 Hours per Week/Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (Includes 30-minute unpaid meal break). Occasional nights and weekends for scheduled events.

Established in 1985, Food Bank of Central New York is a not-for-profit organization leading the fight to end hunger across an 11-county service area that includes Central New York, Northern New York, and the Mohawk Valley. The Food Bank acts as the primary food distribution hub for hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and faith-based organizations in our region.
In addition to food acquisition and distribution, we address the root causes of food insecurity through innovative programming, nutrition education, outreach, and collaboration with non-traditional food bank partners such as healthcare providers. The Food Bank also engages in state and federal advocacy efforts to strengthen anti-hunger policy and work alongside community partners to create lasting solutions that ensure all neighbors can thrive.
Our impact over 12 months is:

POSITION SUMMARY
The Digital Marketing & Communications Coordinator supports Food Bank of Central New York's mission of leading the effort to eliminate hunger in our region through partnership, education, advocacy, and the distribution of nutritious food. This position is responsible for creating, coordinating, and maintaining digital marketing and communications initiatives that strengthen awareness of the Food Bank's impact, programs, partnerships, fundraising efforts, and community engagement opportunities. The Coordinator manages digital content across multiple platforms, helps ensure consistent brand standards, and collaborates with departments throughout the organization to communicate the Food Bank's work effectively to internal and external audiences.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Digital Marketing & Content Management
- Manage and maintain Food Bank of Central New York's website content, including updates, enhancements, and regular content audits.
- Create, edit, and publish content for digital platforms, including website, email marketing, blogs, and other communication channels.
- Coordinate and execute digital marketing campaigns that support organizational goals, fundraising efforts, advocacy initiatives, and community awareness.
- Monitor emerging digital marketing trends, technologies, and best practices and recommend opportunities for implementation.
- Track, analyze, and report on website, email, and digital marketing performance metrics.
Social Media Management
- Develop, maintain, and execute social media content calendars.
- Create and publish engaging content across organizational social media platforms.
- Monitor social media activity, respond to inquiries as appropriate, and identify opportunities to increase engagement and audience growth.
- Analyze social media performance and recommend strategies to improve reach, engagement, and effectiveness.
- Ensure social media content aligns with organizational branding, messaging, and communication objectives.
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Capture and develop photography, video, graphics, and other digital assets that communicate the Food Bank's mission, programs, partnerships, and community impact.
- Identify and develop stories that highlight Food Bank initiatives, volunteers, community partners, donors, and neighbors served.
- Assist with writing, editing, and proofing content for publications, newsletters, marketing materials, and digital communications.
- Maintain consistency in messaging, voice, branding, and visual standards across all communication channels.
Marketing & Communications Support
- Design and produce marketing and communication materials including brochures, flyers, fact sheets, presentations, signage, event materials, and digital advertisements.
- Support communication efforts for fundraising campaigns, special events, advocacy initiatives, volunteer engagement activities, and organizational announcements.
- Coordinate production, ordering, and inventory of printed marketing and communications materials.
- Collaborate with staff across departments to identify communication needs and develop effective marketing solutions.
Community Engagement & Organizational Support
- Support efforts to increase awareness of Food Bank of Central New York's programs, services, partnerships, and impact throughout the community.
- Represent the organization at community events, volunteer activities, and outreach opportunities as assigned.
- Maintain accuracy, consistency, and quality across all public-facing communication platforms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to consistently travel throughout assigned service area.
- Capable of standing, walking, bending, and lifting for consistent periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Able to move about the office, warehouse environments, and outdoors as needed.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field required.
- Google Analytics, digital marketing, social media, or related certifications preferred.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel locally as needed preferred.
- This position will receive a pre-employment drug test (drivers only) and background check. Food Bank of Central New York complies with all applicable state and federal laws pertaining to drug testing and background checks, including Article 23-A.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of two years of experience in marketing, communications, digital media, public relations, or a related field required.
- Experience managing organizational social media platforms and content calendars required.
- Experience creating digital and print marketing materials required.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS) and website administration preferred.
- Experience with photography, videography, and video editing preferred.
- Experience using analytics and reporting tools to evaluate digital marketing performance preferred.
- Experience using Google Analytics and/or Google Grants preferred.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
- Experience working in a nonprofit, mission-driven, or community-focused organization preferred.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
- Proficiency in social media management and digital content creation.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing principles and best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and cloud-based collaboration tools.
