This position reports to the CMPT Delaware Operations Lab Manager and will be hired to work on the following shift:


CMPT Operations Lab Technician

Day shift – 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.


Your key responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze samples.
  • Perform chemical and/or physical analyses or scientific tests, using standard procedures, in compliance with all safety and control standards.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate QC metrology, as required.
  • Record data from product testing and inspection, organize data, and perform basic computations using standard procedures and guidelines.
  • Verify products meet requirements and release raw materials for use in manufacturing to support manufacturing operations.
  • Engage in Statistical Process Control (SPC) analysis for raw material data and testing.
  • Maintain lab inventory supplies.
  • Travel locally between manufacturing campus laboratories.
  • Comply with all safe chemical handling practices.
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous chemicals and wastes. 
  • Complete safety observations and participate in safety improvements, as required.
  • Work safely in warehouse and manufacturing environments by following established safety and operational procedures.
  • Use powered industrial trucks, forklifts, and other industrial machinery to physically manage bulk materials used in manufacturing.
  • Participate in continuous improvement work, as required.
  • Ability to support overtime, weekend coverage, or alternate shifts as business needs require.
  • May also perform laboratory analyses/operations for product quality, in-process samples, effluents, and materials testing in support of manufacturing operations, or may support other scientists in operations of laboratories, test/pilot facilities and in performing laboratory analyses.

Qualifications: The following qualifications are required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent degree.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete routine testing in a timely, reproducible manner independently and within teams.
  • Strong attention to detail to prevent and minimize errors.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products including MS Word and MS Excel (MS Access preferred).
  • Excellent communication, analysis, troubleshooting and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels.

The following skills are preferred, but not required:

  • General knowledge of chemical safety protocols and PPE.
  • Experience reviewing and following SOPs and work instructions.
  • Experience working in laboratory fume hoods or ventilated enclosures.
  • Experience working in a Quality Control laboratory.
  • Experience performing one or more of the following analytical or physical test methods:  Titrations, spectroscopy, density, compression/deflection/deformation, adhesion strength, viscosity, liquid chromatography, trace metals/ICP.
  • Demonstrated experience working safely in a laboratory and/or industrial environment (manufacturing, warehousing, or equivalent trade).
  • Knowledge of statistical process control including chart monitoring and OOT/OOS escalations.
  • Experience working with databases, including Microsoft Access.
  • Experience using ERP systems, including SAP.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to go up / down the stairs or ladders or movable staircases
  • Lift and/or move a minimum of 30 pounds.
  • Fine motor skills as needed for job duties
  • Extended periods of keyboard usage
  • Occasional kneeling / crouching Grasp and hold small objects.
  • Wear personal protective equipment for extended periods.
