TEEN REC WORKER

Teen Recreation Workers work with teens of all ages in a fun, fast paced, environment, with the opportunity to make a difference. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• MonitorsandfacilitatesasafeandcleanenvironmentforyouthenteringtheTeenCenter
• Worksthefrontdeskanswering phones, providinginformationregardingtheTeenCenter,trackingattendanceandcheckingequipmentinandout
• Registersnewmembersandmaintainsarecordofeach member's age,phone number,andemergencycontactnumbersincomputersystem
• Assistsincoordinatingrecreationalprogramsforyouthsuchasdances,artsandcraftprograms,fundraisers,andfieldtrips
• Explainstherulesoftheactivitiesandinstructparticipantsatavarietyofskilllevels
• Organizesandsetsuptheequipmentthatisusedinrecreationalactivities
• Monitorstheskateparkensuringsafetyandcompliancewithrules
• Providesproperprotectiveequipmentforallactivitiesin theteencenter,ensuringsafety
• Administerbasicfirstaidifneeded
• Ensuresthatallequipmentworksproperly
• Performsnightlyclosingproceduresensuringthatallfacilitydoorsare locked, alarmisactivated,andthateveryteenisoutofthebuildingandpickedupbyparentorguardian
• Mayperformsmiscellaneousdutiessuchasrunningerrands,pickingupsuppliesasneededforactivities,decorating,andsettinguptablesandchairsforevents.

Education and Experience:

• Graduation from High School or GED equivalent required 
• Previous public contact work experience preferred

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

• Communication skills. Teen recreation workers must be able to communicate well. They often work with large groups of people and need to give clear instructions, motivate participants, and maintain order and safety.
• Flexibility. Teen recreation workers must be flexible when planning activities. They must be able to adapt plans to suit changing environmental conditions and each person's needs.
• Leadership skills. Teen recreation workers should be able to lead both large and small groups. We believe in leadership at all levels.
• Problem-solving skills. Teen recreation workers need strong problem-solving skills. They must be able to create and reinvent activities and programs for all types of participants.

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Valid state issued driver’s license
• Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days

Under the general supervision of the Lead Teen Rec Worker, Assistant Teen Center Supervisor, Recreation Superintendent, and the Recreation Director.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is a high traffic area therefore noise level in the work environment is noisy.
