Overview

A warm, private family in the Redding, CT area is seeking an exceptional Full-Time Live-In Nanny / Early Childhood Educator to provide nurturing, developmentally focused care for their one-year-old child. The family is looking for a dedicated professional who can grow alongside their child for years to come, supporting their development through early childhood and beyond.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of hands-on childcare experience, creativity, developmental awareness, and a genuine passion for early childhood enrichment. The family welcomes experienced career nannies, early childhood educators, teachers, and Montessori or Waldorf professionals.

Both parents work from home, and the mother is actively involved in her child's daily routine. The family embraces a gentle, attachment-focused parenting philosophy and values warmth, affection, patience, and responsiveness. Their beautiful property offers opportunities for outdoor exploration, nature walks, and visiting farm animals.

This is a long-term, live-in position offering independent accommodations in a beautiful, private guest cottage on the family's property. The family is open to relocation assistance for the right candidate and is hoping to welcome someone as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, loving, and developmentally appropriate care for the family's one-year-old.
  • Create a nurturing environment supporting emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Follow the family's attachment-focused parenting philosophy, including comforting, holding, cuddling, and rocking the child to sleep as needed.
  • Plan engaging, age-appropriate activities incorporating sensory play, music, reading, art, outdoor exploration, and early learning.
  • Encourage curiosity and independence through child-led activities and developmentally appropriate enrichment.
  • Spend meaningful time outdoors, including walks around the property, visiting farm animals, and exploring nature.
  • Coordinate outings, classes, and enriching experiences outside the home.
  • Prepare fresh, nutritious meals and snacks for the child, emphasizing wholesome ingredients and thoughtful food preparation.
  • Occasionally assist with preparing healthy family meals.
  • Manage daily routines, including feeding, naps, diapering, and age-appropriate transitions.
  • Maintain organized nursery areas, play spaces, toys, books, and children's belongings.
  • Handle the child's laundry and related household responsibilities.
  • Assist with light family assistant duties, including resetting common areas, loading and unloading the dishwasher, washing produce, and maintaining an orderly environment.
  • Occasionally assist with grocery shopping, errands, household restocking, and other general family needs.
  • Provide occasional care for the family's two dogs, including assistance with bathing when necessary.
  • Assist with preparations for family gatherings, special occasions, and upcoming travel.
  • Travel domestically and internationally with the family as needed, particularly to Los Angeles and Japan, generally for trips lasting several weeks.
  • Work collaboratively with the mother to prioritize childcare and household support throughout the day.
  • Maintain open communication with both parents regarding the child's development, activities, routines, and milestones.

  • Discreet and socially aware: Understands professional boundaries, recognizes social cues, and conducts themselves appropriately in both relaxed family settings and formal gatherings.
  • Organized and detail-oriented: Takes pride in maintaining a clean, welcoming, and thoughtfully organized environment.
  • Health-conscious: Appreciates nutritious, fresh food and is comfortable preparing wholesome meals from scratch.

Prior experience in a high-profile or high-net-worth household is highly preferred but not required. Familiarity with Japanese culture is also a plus.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience caring for infants and toddlers, particularly children around one year of age.
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development, age-appropriate enrichment, and child safety.
  • Professional nanny, early childhood education, teaching, Montessori, Waldorf, or comparable childcare experience.
  • Comfortable practicing attachment-focused parenting and providing responsive, affectionate care.
  • Ability to confidently manage feeding, age-appropriate food preparation, nap routines, diapering, and daily childcare needs.
  • Comfortable preparing fresh, nutritious meals and snacks.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Current infant/child CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain before starting.
  • Comfortable living and working in a household with two dogs and other animals on the property.
  • Excellent professional references.
  • Willingness to complete a background screening and sign a confidentiality agreement.
  • Willingness to participate in a paid trial period before moving into the family's property.
  • Commitment to a long-term, live-in arrangement.

International travel experience with children is strongly preferred.

Salary and Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $40-$45/hourly, depending on experience (DOE).
  • Accommodations: Beautiful, private guest cottage on the family's property, approximately a five-minute walk from the main residence.
  • Paid Time Off: Two weeks annually.
  • Paid Holidays: Federal holidays paid and off or working on holiday rate
  • Sick Days: 3-5 sick days per year

  • Relocation Assistance: Available for the right candidate.
  • Vehicle: Nanny vehicle provided for child-related transportation.
  • Start Date: Mid December, Trialing in November
