Family Violence Team Leader | Mackay

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Family Violence Team Leader to lead a dedicated team supporting victim-survivors of family and domestic violence. Based in Mackay, this rewarding leadership role will oversee accommodation, outreach, case management and after-hours services, ensuring victim survivors receive safe, high-quality, trauma-informed support on their journey to recovery.

About the Role

As the Family Violence Team Leader, you will provide operational leadership across a range of specialist family violence programs and services. You will champion best-practice service delivery, support and develop staff, ensure compliance and quality standards are achieved, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.

Working closely with stakeholders, community partners and internal leadership teams, you will play a key role in strengthening services that support victim survivors to rebuild their lives in a safe and empowering environment.

Key Responsibilities

Service Delivery & Operational Leadership

• Lead the day-to-day operations of family violence accommodation, outreach and case management services.
• Drive high-quality, child-focused, strengths-based and trauma-informed practice across all programs.
• Ensure services meet funding, accreditation, quality and compliance requirements.
• Monitor service performance, identify opportunities for improvement and implement effective strategies.
• Oversee program budgets, resources, properties and operational requirements.
• Manage risks, incidents and service delivery challenges in line with organisational and government requirements.
• Promote client participation and continuous service improvement.
• Participate in and oversee a rotational on-call roster.

People Leadership

• Provide supervision, coaching and support to Specialist Family Violence Practitioners and other team members.
• Build a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.
• Support workforce development through training, mentoring and performance management.
• Lead recruitment activities in partnership with senior leadership.
• Foster employee wellbeing while maintaining safe and healthy workplaces.
• Implement effective communication and handover practices to ensure seamless service delivery.

What You'll Bring

• Degree qualification in Social Work or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated leadership experience within the family violence sector.
• Experience managing residential, outreach and case management services.
• Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practice and family violence frameworks.
• Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Experience leading teams, managing performance and driving service excellence.
• Strong administrative and technology skills, including Microsoft Office and client management systems.
• Ability to build partnerships and identify opportunities to strengthen service delivery.

Essential Requirements

• Current Queensland Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
• Current Queensland Driver Licence.
• Evidence of relevant qualifications.
• Ability to participate in a rotating on-call roster.
