Chemical Engineer

Operating out of our facility in Tustin, CA, we are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Chemical Engineer to support for our R&D activities for sensor manufacturing, optimization, prototype delivery, and new sensor development. This role will play a key part in fabricating sensors, prepare and optimize formulations, characterize sensor performance, and conduct simulant and TIC testing.  

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Chemical Engineer, you will be a key partner in supporting our R&D activities and collaborating closely with electrical and mechanical engineering teams and, as applicable, develop aerosol collectors. You will be supporting the preparation of technical deliverables and materials for USG test events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

• Support R&D activities related to sensor manufacturing, optimization, prototype development, delivery.
• Fabricate and assemble sensors and prepare, optimize, and document sensor formulations.
• Characterize sensor performance and conduct simulant and TIC testing to evaluate sensor response and functionality.
• Develop and optimize sensor manufacturing and testing processes to improve performance, consistently, and reliability.
• Collaborate with EE and ME teams to support sensor integration, testing, troubleshooting, and prototype development.
• Support the development and optimization of aerosol collection systems for sensor applications.
• Prepare technical documentations, test plans, data summaries, and other deliverables supporting USG test events.
• Troubleshoot sensor and process issues and implement improvements based on test results and experimental findings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is highly preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in Chemical Engineering in aerospace, defense or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of chemical formulation preparation and use of chemical and engineering tools.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, test data, and technical documentations.
• Experience working under AS9100, ISO 9001, or other quality-management systems.
• Familiarity with government technical data, configuration management and formal engineering documentations.
• Experience with chemical processing, energetic materials, polymers, coatings, composites, or advanced materials, depending on program requirements.
