Description

Why Join Suite Living Senior Care?

At Suite Living, we don't just provide housing; we provide a home. As a provider of assisted living and memory care, our mission is to enhance the quality of life for seniors through a supportive environment that fosters independence. As a member of our leadership team, you will help create a welcoming community for residents, support and develop staff, and build strong relationships with families.

Benefits may include comprehensive Blue Cross Blue Shield medical plans, generous PTO and paid holidays, life insurance and long-term disability coverage, 401(k) retirement options, and a supportive culture that values professional growth. Benefit eligibility is subject to Suite Living's current plans and policies.

The Role

Suite Living is seeking a motivated, compassionate Housing Director candidate who is eligible to pursue Minnesota Assisted Living Director in Residence (ALDIR) status and is committed to becoming a Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD). This role combines community leadership and day-to-day operational responsibilities with a structured professional-development pathway toward full licensure.

The Housing Director will support the community's operational performance, resident experience, team development, regulatory readiness, and occupancy goals. The individual must meet all applicable ALDIR and Residency Permit requirements and obtain Minnesota LALD licensure within the permitted residency period, which is expected to be no longer than 12 months. Continued employment in this role is contingent on maintaining eligibility and meeting applicable state licensing requirements. If the individual does not obtain the required LALD license within the legally permitted period, they may no longer continue in this role, subject to applicable law and Suite Living policy.

Compensation & Licensure Progression

  • Initial compensation: $70,000 annual base salary, plus a quarterly bonus based on occupancy performance.
  • After licensure: Upon obtaining and verifying an active Minnesota LALD license, the annual base salary increases to $80,000, with eligibility for the same quarterly occupancy-based bonus.
  • Bonus details, including occupancy targets, measurement periods, payout thresholds, and payment timing, will be outlined separately in Suite Living's bonus plan.
  • The employee is responsible for actively progressing through all applicable education, examination, experience, application, and other licensure requirements, with support and expectations established by Suite Living.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Support and oversee daily community operations in accordance with Suite Living policies, assigned authority, and applicable Minnesota requirements.
  • Work with the appropriate licensed leadership and corporate support to maintain regulatory readiness, accurate documentation, and timely follow-through on corrective actions.
  • Monitor operating performance, expenses, budgets, and resource needs; contribute to planning and fiscal accountability.
  • Help prepare for licensing surveys, inspections, audits, and quality-improvement activities.
  • Understand the limits of ALDIR authority and perform only those duties permitted under the applicable Residency Permit and state requirements.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide visible, supportive leadership to community team members and help coordinate day-to-day priorities.
  • Support onboarding, training, coaching, performance feedback, and employee engagement.
  • Promote a respectful, accountable workplace culture focused on resident well-being and quality service.
  • Communicate operational needs, staffing concerns, and significant issues promptly to the appropriate leadership.

Resident, Family & Community Relations

  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, team members, referral partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Support tours, inquiries, and follow-up with prospective residents and families in coordination with the community's sales and occupancy processes.
  • Respond to resident and family concerns with empathy, professionalism, and timely escalation when needed.
  • Support resident engagement, activities, and a welcoming community environment.
  • Coordinate appropriate communications about residency requirements, transitions, and changes in needs with relevant team members, while respecting role boundaries and applicable requirements.

Occupancy & Community Performance

  • Help drive occupancy through timely inquiry follow-up, tours, relationship-building, and coordination with referral sources.
  • Monitor occupancy trends and participate in action plans to meet community goals.
  • Partner with internal teams to support resident satisfaction, retention, and a strong reputation in the local community.
  • Track relevant performance measures and communicate progress toward established goals.

Licensure & Professional Development

  • Meet the applicable eligibility requirements for ALDIR status and maintain the required Residency Permit and any associated conditions.
  • Develop and follow a written plan to complete all requirements for Minnesota LALD licensure within the legally permitted residency period.
  • Complete required coursework, examinations, supervised experience, documentation, and applications on schedule, as applicable.
  • Maintain regular communication with the designated supervisor and Suite Living leadership regarding progress, barriers, and upcoming milestones.
  • Obtain and maintain an active, unrestricted Minnesota LALD license within the required timeframe to continue in the role and qualify for the post-licensure base salary.

Qualifications

  • Meets applicable Minnesota eligibility requirements for Assisted Living Director in Residence (ALDIR) status and a Residency Permit, or is able to obtain the required status before assuming duties that require it.
  • Demonstrated interest in senior care, housing operations, resident services, and leadership.
  • Experience in senior living, assisted living, hospitality, healthcare, housing, or team supervision preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and relationship-management skills.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive resident, family, and employee matters.
  • Willingness and ability to complete all requirements for Minnesota LALD licensure within the permitted residency period, expected to be 12 months or less.
  • Ability to meet the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Ready to Grow into Leadership?

If you are passionate about serving seniors, ready to lead with empathy and accountability, and committed to earning your Minnesota LALD license, Suite Living Senior Care invites you to apply. This is an opportunity to contribute to a community while developing the qualifications needed for long-term leadership.
