Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract

Compensation: R40,000 - R45,000 / month
Description
Picture Upwork, but for hospitality shifts. Limber is a UK marketplace where hospitality workers choose shifts that fit their lives, and bars, restaurants and venues fill last-minute gaps in their rota from a pool of rated, verified people.
Workers get flexibility, businesses get reliable staff fast, and the platform takes care of the booking.Ten years in, it's still a small, founder-led team where every seat matters.
For the past four years, one person has run Limber's entire customer operations engine with almost no supervision.
Now they're off on maternity leave, and Limber needs a fast, self-reliant operator to own the seat for a year: the support inbox, worker verification, payroll and everything in between.
It's fast-paced and varied, perfect for someone who loves getting through a busy day with sharp judgement and real momentum.
You'll report straight to the founder, get a proper handover, and be trusted to run things your way from day one.
If clearing a long list and leaving nothing hanging is your kind of satisfying, this one's for you.
The Role
What you’ll own:
Customer Support (roughly half the role)
- Run point on the support inbox in Intercom, across three types of traffic: workers, hirers and new enquiries
- Handle the everyday worker queries: verification status, cancellations, ratings and timesheet disputes
- Handle the everyday hirer queries: timesheet corrections, no-show charges, feedback on workers
- Follow the existing processes and saved answers, and use judgement where they run out
- Escalate to the founder anything with an HR, health and safety or legal angle, plus commercial requests such as new customers, licences and feature requests
- Pass bugs to the CTO and follow them through
- Spot and act quickly on anything that stops a shift going live, such as a failed push from a scheduling integration. These are the genuinely time-sensitive tickets
- Keep response times in line with the current standard, which averages around three working hours. Most other queries can wait up to 24 hours without harm
Worker Verification (roughly a third of the role)
- Manually review worker applications. Limber deliberately does not use AI to screen people
- Decide whether each applicant is approved, approved for entry-level roles only, or declined
- Handle the small amount of right-to-work admin for edge cases that are not verified automatically
- Build speed over time. This is fast, repetitive work and is expected to be slow at first
Payroll & Financial Operations (the remainder)
- Run the payroll process, which is largely automated: uploads, checks and working through the payroll system. Limber is moving from Paycircle to PayCaptain
- Action items arriving by post through the scanned mail inbox, such as applying an attachment of earnings order to a worker
- Support the monthly management accounts and the bookkeeper, including keeping track of bad debt
- Deal with failed payments
Enterprise Onboarding (as needed)
- Administrative support onboarding new enterprise customers, such as setting up additional sites in Limber's system
Working Model:
- Full-time, remote, based in South Africa
- Fixed-term contract covering 2027, starting at the beginning of January 2027
- Working hours: UK business hours, Monday to Friday
- Weekends: one triage check-in across the weekend, to catch anything urgent between Friday and Monday. Any time spent on it is taken back during the following week
- Tools: Intercom, Limber's internal operations dashboard, payroll software (Paycircle, moving to PayCaptain)
- This is a 12-month maternity cover. It suits someone who wants a defined year-long role, not a route into a permanent position
The Person
- Several years into their career, and has already proven themselves a safe pair of hands in a previous role with real autonomy over organising difficult, messy work
- Mature and self-reliant. Comfortable being given a set of outcomes and left to deliver them
- Fast, with good judgement about where precision matters and where done is better than perfect
- Operational background in a busy, detail-heavy environment. Direct marketplace or hospitality experience is not required. Customer service, logistics, payroll, HR or operations coordination are all relevant
- Strong written English with a natural, friendly tone. Neither stiff and over-formal nor too casual
- Trustworthy and discreet. The role has access to financial systems and deals with sensitive complaints
- Confident moving quickly between several software tools
- Owns mistakes and raises problems early
- Motivated by getting things done rather than by title or profile
- Genuinely motivated by a fixed 12-month role
