Grounds III
Monday – Friday | 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
The Grounds III position is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of the College's campuses and outdoor facilities. Under the direction of the Grounds Supervisor, this position performs routine grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, litter removal, planting, athletic field maintenance, snow and ice removal, and operation of grounds equipment.
Primary Job Duties
Perform routine grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, litter collection, weed control, leaf removal, and landscape bed maintenance.
Plant, water, prune, mulch, fertilize, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and other landscaped areas.
Operate grounds equipment, including mowers, trimmers, utility vehicles, snow removal equipment, and hand tools.
Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs.
Assist with snow and ice removal activities, including plowing, shoveling, salting, and emergency weather response.
Support maintenance of athletic fields and assist with campus events, site preparation, and special projects.
Inspect campus grounds for safety hazards and report issues related to sidewalks, parking lots, drainage systems, landscaping, and other outdoor facilities.
Follow all safety procedures, departmental standards, and College policies.
Assist Facilities and Maintenance staff with departmental projects as needed.
Support operations across multiple campus locations.
Participate in emergency response and recovery activities.
Attend required training and safety meetings.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
2 years previous groundskeeping, landscaping, agricultural, or related outdoor work experience
Experience operating commercial grounds equipment preferred.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work safely in various outdoor conditions and weather environments.
Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with students, employees, and visitors.
Successful completion of a criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening.
Availability to participate in mandatory snow removal and emergency operations.
Pay & Benefits
Starting Hourly Rate: $25.12 per hour. May qualify for additional hourly compensation based on certifications. Background Checks/Clearances
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of all required background checks and clearances, including, but not limited to, a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check, a pre-placement physical, and a pre-employment drug screening that tests for controlled substances, including marijuana (THC).
