Position Summary
Under the supervision of department leadership, proficiently performs phlebotomy collection of whole blood and apheresis products. Interacts with donors and coordinators to provide a high level of customer service while delivering an excellent donation experience. Demonstrates sensitivity and understands the customers' perspective. Fosters a collaborative/team working spirit and actively helps and supports others to achieve team goals. Contributes positively to the achievement of team objectives. Responsible for driving the mobile drive vehicle and transporting the mobile staff in a safe and efficient manner. In addition to these responsibilities, the Senior Specialist Donor CDL plays an essential role in promoting and maintaining a collaborative and respectful team culture and contributes to a strong and engaging employee experience. The individual models teamwork, effective communication, and professionalism and fosters an environment where donors and colleagues feel safe, valued, and respected.

Responsibilities
- With a valid CDL, may operate mobile drive buses. Following all DOT guidelines, safely transports staff, supplies and equipment and arrives at site on time.
- Prepares collection site & performs set up, including technology systems and quality control.
- Performs donor screening (collects donor histories), mini-physical, and phlebotomy.
- Treats donors with customer service excellence and adds value to the donation experience through professional relationship building. Responds to donor inquiries, requests, and complaints with a timely and complete response and escalates to leader when appropriate. Provides a service-centric donor experience by interacting with donors respectfully, compassionately, and professionally.
- Resolves donor issues effectively. Escalates more complex issues to leadership as needed.
- Conducts automation (Alyx and/or Trima), including recognizing and responding to automation reactions. Recruits and converts donors for automation.
- Contributes to and influences a positive team culture and employee experience by fostering teamwork, collaborating effectively, maintaining an encouraging environment, and by supporting coworkers through kind and respectful behaviors.
- Maintains product integrity and ensures proper identification of all donors. May perform routine maintenance on equipment and completes department records as needed. Prepares/packs units for transport. Minimizes collection loss due to errors, incidents, etc.
- Observes donors for reactions, provides reaction care and assists other staff in handling reactions if needed.
- Rebooks donors for future donation appointments and facilitates rebooking process.
- May support the team through mentoring/training as needed.
- May be subject to additional background checks as required by sponsor.
- Reviews daily work for accuracy and recognizes and investigates the reason for potential discrepancies and unexpected results, resolving where appropriate.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification

Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma required
- GED required
Experience
- 1-3 years job-related experience. required
- 1-3 years years of relevant people facing experience preferred

- Knowledge, typically acquired through specialized training, is required for the application of practical methods and techniques, work procedures and processes and/or proficiency in the specialized use of materials, equipment, and tools. required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other department manuals. required
- Must be proficient in at least one apheresis skill (Alyx or Trima) AND in precepting required
