Overview

Performs creation and revision of manufacturing process plans for mechanical assembly operations. Reviews customer contracts and blueprint change requests to ensure process conformance. Evaluates equipment, processes, operation sequence, and mechanical assembly activities to determine and implement best practices. Reviews customer returns and manufacturing discrepancies to determine rework or repair processes. Designs basic work holding fixtures for fabrication, and assembly operations on CAD system. Creates detailed work instructions for assembly activities. Supports new product introduction and strategic initiatives. Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all established quality management system procedures and work instructions as applicable.
  • Assist in establishing / updating the Assembly Process Operations and entering / updating into the MRP System
  • Create robust process plans to produce high quality Aerospace and Defense components
  • Generate repair or rework process routings for non-conforming products
  • Review new contracts for manufacturing and process requirements
  • Day to Day Manufacturing Floor Support
  • Investigates product quality/ manufacturing problems and recommends changes or improvements
  • Support Manufacturing in First Article Production Builds

    Knowledge & Skills:

     

  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Programs such as Word, Excel & PowerPoint. Also CAD systems, Visio & Project
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing Activities
  • Manufacturing Engineering Production Support, including developing Assembly Work Instructions
  • Experience in reading and understanding blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams. 
  • Experience with IPC-A-610, IPC-620 and J-STD-001 Industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collect data and generate technical reports
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX knowledge a plus
  •  

    Education and Experience:

                    Technical School with a minimum of 5 years’ experience or Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.

     

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

     

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word, and knowledge of inventory software, order processing systems, manufacturing software, and contact management systems.

    Electronic Assembly is required to follow ESD rules, always wear a smock on the floor, and adhere to the safety rules of floor.  The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, sharp objects, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
