About This Opportunity

Join a collaborative and inclusive academic community advancing public health nutrition through purposeful research, teaching and engagement. Working alongside academics in the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences, you will develop an independent research profile, contribute to nationally and internationally recognised research, engage with policy and practice stakeholders, and translate evidence into meaningful outcomes for communities.

Key responsibilities will include.

  • Research: Develop an independent and team-based research program in public health nutrition, including nutritional epidemiology, population-based dietary interventions, nutrition promotion, and food and nutrition policy. Publish high-quality research, pursue external funding, apply rigorous quantitative and qualitative methods, and translate evidence to inform policy and practice.

  • Teaching: Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across different settings, contribute to innovative curriculum design, coordinate courses, and undertake assessment and marking in accordance with University requirements.

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise Master of Dietetics Studies research project students, Honours students, and Higher Degree by Research candidates. Support researcher capability, positive working relationships, and effective employee processes in accordance with University policies.

  • Citizenship and Service: Build purposeful partnerships with colleagues, government, industry, professional bodies, and the wider community. Contribute to governance, committees and internal service, while demonstrating leadership through mentoring, collaboration, and the consistent application of UQ values.

This is a research focused position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ’s Criteria for Academic Performance.

About You

  • Completion of a PhD in nutrition, dietetics, public health, or a closely related discipline.

  • Demonstrated research experience in population nutrition, behavioural nutrition, nutritional epidemiology, food policy, or another area of public health nutrition.

  • A strong track record of publications in respected peer-reviewed journals and presentations at conferences, relative to career stage.

  • Evidence of national standing and an emerging international profile in public health nutrition.

  • Experience applying quantitative research methods to large datasets using advanced statistical methods and software such as R, Stata, or SAS.

  • Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining, or managing external research funding.

  • Experience engaging effectively with government, community, policy, or practice stakeholders and working collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.

  • A growing record of student supervision, high-quality university teaching, academic service, and external engagement, supported by excellent communication, organisational, and project management skills.
