CORPORATE INTELLIGENCE EXPERIENCED CASE MANAGER SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA, CAPE TOWN 

S-RM is seeking an experienced Case Manager to join the sub-Saharan Africa team within our Corporate Intelligence division, based in our Cape Town office.

THE ROLE  

The successful candidate will play a leading role in the management and delivery of a range of complex corporate intelligence matters relating to the sub-Saharan Africa region. They will combine strong investigative expertise, project management, and client relationship skills to deliver high-quality project work for our clients. 

The key areas of responsibility will be: 

 

  • Manage a broad range of complex due diligence investigative engagements from initial scoping through to delivery, ensuring projects are completed to a high standard and within agreed timelines. 
  • Analyse information from a wide range of sources to produce accurate and well supported findings.  
  • Conduct human source enquiries across sub-Saharan Africa, consistently building the team's regional network. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our clients, including presenting findings via verbal briefings and presentations to senior stakeholders. 
  • Identify opportunities for additional project work and contribute to the growth of existing client relationships. 
  • Play a key role in developing S-RM's research capabilities, knowledge base, and professional network across the sub-Saharan Africa region. 
  • Mentor, manage, and support analysts, sharing expertise and promoting high-quality investigative standards across the team. 
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of investigative best practice. 

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Corporate Intelligence/Strategic Intelligence industry, or adjacent industries like law, finance, or investigative journalism. 
  • Experience leading on complex engagements, including in-depth due diligence assignments, high-stakes investigations, and market entry analyses, with a strong focus on jurisdictions in sub-Saharan Africa. 
  • Deep understanding of political, economic, commercial, and legal dynamics across sub-Saharan Africa.  
  • Excellent open source research skills and confidence in conducting regional human source enquiries. 
  • Proven ability to effectively plan, staff, and manage Corporate Intelligence/Strategic Intelligence projects of varying complexities within budget and timelines, as well as being accountable for the work of other team members, quality assurance, and client deliverables. 
  • Demonstrable experience in client communication and relationship building, including request scoping, project proposals, day-to-day client management. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience providing clear and constructive feedback to team members.  
  • Experience in mentoring and managing junior colleagues, sharing best practice, and upholding quality standards. 
  • Proficiency in French, Portuguese, or other relevant regional languages will be to your advantage, though not essential.   

 

The role will be based in our Cape Town office, with a hybrid working arrangement requiring two days per week in office. Candidates are required to have permission to work in South Africa by the start of their employment
