The Labor & Employee Relations Center of Excellence (COE) - Asia Pacific (APAC) Regional Leader role will help design and operationalize the APAC LER strategy and operating and service delivery models across platforms and operating companies in this region in alignment with the Danaher Labor and Employment functional design and strategy. The APAC region includes:  Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Australia, and New Zealand.  The LER COE – APAC Region is part of the global Danaher enterprise Labor & Employee Relations team.  

This role will partner with peer roles that support China and India to drive consistent, clear and aligned approaches and strategies across the larger region.
This role leads the delivery of high quality, consistent, and compliant labor and employee relations services aligned with the LER COE strategy and mission—with fairness, expertise, experience, efficiency, and professionalism. Operating within a process oriented LER COE model, this role embeds governance, playbooks and standard work, and data driven continuous improvement.


This position reports to Danaher’s Vice President & Chief Counsel, Labor & Employment (L&E), and is a part of the enterprise HR function. As a senior HR leader and trusted advisor, the APAC Regional Leader partners closely with L&E Legal and Legal & Compliance teams, business leaders, and HR teammates, to enable business priorities, manage risk, uphold company values, and reinforce a fair, respectful, and inclusive workplace. This role will be located in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and will be located on-site.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Lead the APAC Labor & Employee Relations (LER) governance, strategy, and operating model, ensuring alignment with Global LER priorities while driving consistency of approach, process, standards, and risk management across APAC operating companies.

  • Establish and maintain regional LER operating and service delivery models including governance, including decision rights, escalation frameworks, playbooks, and standard work to enable compliant, consistent, and effective management of employee and labor relations matters.

  • Develop and drive operational excellence including adoption of SLAs and KPIS and use of reporting, analytics, and continuous improvement initiatives to solve problems, identify trends, mitigate risk, and strengthen organizational capability and compliance.

  • Partner with L&E Legal Team and regional and operating company HR, Legal, and business leaders on complex, high-risk employee and labor relations matters, balancing legal requirements, business objectives, and associate experience.

  • Serve as the regional LER subject matter expert for organizational change initiatives, including restructurings, workforce actions, employee relations risk mitigation, and labor relations strategy.

  • Monitor labor and employment law developments across APAC region and translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical and scalable solutions, including policies, guidance, processes, and training.

  • Build LER capability throughout the organization through guidance, consultation, and partnership with other functional teams (e.g., HR, Legal, and business leaders) and always fostering a fair, respectful, and compliant workplace culture.

  • Lead and develop high-performing APAC LER talent within the region with a balance of humility and gravitas, to ensure sustained performance, capability growth and career development.

The essential requirements of the job include:  

  • University degree in Business, Human Resources, or another related field

  • 7+ years of labor and employee relations experience for broad remit of APAC countries with substantial responsibility in leading a variety of complex LER issues to conclusion including HR investigations; individual and group/collective employment separations; performance management and performance-improvement plans; disciplinary action; etc.

  • At least 4+ total years of people leadership / management experience, including a minimum of 2 years managing remote-based employees within the last 4 years.

  • At least 4 years’ experience in managing, handling and executing employee relations investigations, particularly in a remote capacity, and preparation of appropriate documentation.

  • Experience with project and change management

  • Experience developing, improving, executing and scaling LER core processes and programs, including workflows, best practices, and matter/resource governance with demonstrable ability to translate legal requirements into pragmatic solutions and processes.

  • Solid working knowledge of relevant labor and employment laws with high ethical standards, sound judgment, resilience under pressure, and a balanced approach combining empathy with objectivity
     

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: 

  • Ability to travel 20 – 30% (primarily within APAC region)

It would be a plus if you also possess: 

  • Fluency in English and other relevant languages

  • Legal background in employment law or are a qualified lawyer

  • Experience in multinational companies, particularly within life sciences, manufacturing, or regulated industries
