Description

Are you passionate about serving those who have served? ETCOG's Area Agency on Aging is seeking a dedicated professional to support the Veteran Directed Care (VDC) program, helping veterans maintain independence, choice, and quality of life across ETCOG's 14-county region and additional partner counties. In this role, you will meet with veterans, caregivers, family members, and authorized representatives to assess needs, develop client specific service plans, coordinate services, connect participants to community resources, and help ensure veterans receive the support they need to remain as independent as possible.

This position is ideal for someone who is organized, compassionate, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing direct service with documentation, compliance, and program accountability. The selected candidate will monitor services and spending, maintain accurate case records, communicate with VA partners and service providers, educate veterans and caregivers on program benefits and responsibilities, and help identify and resolve service gaps or risks. Every day brings the opportunity to make a meaningful difference while supporting a program built around veteran choice and self-direction.

Education & Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in human services, social science, business, or a related field is preferred. Minimum one year's experience in human services, case management, veteran services, long-term services and support, aging services, disability services, or a closely related field required; experience working with veterans, older adults, individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and community-based service systems is strongly preferred. Veteran status is preferred due to the position's direct service to veterans and veteran caregivers. Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply but veteran status is not required for consideration. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.

East Texas Council of Governments is a voluntary association of counties, cities, school districts and special districts within the fourteen-county East Texas region. We assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit and coordinating for sound regional development. Either directly, or through our contractors, ETCOG provides programs and services for East Texas seniors, employers and job seekers. We also build the 9-1-1 emergency call delivery system, provide peace officer training and homeland security planning services; and deliver rural transportation services, business finance programs, grant writing services and environmental grant funding for the region.
