The Global Engineering Labs (GEL) Site Lead is responsible for leading all aspects of laboratory operations at the San Jose site. This role partners closely with engineering customers, facilities teams, safety organizations, and business partners to ensure laboratories are safe, reliable, and prepared to support current and future technology needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead daily site operations and laboratory support activities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with engineering customers and partners.
- Drive a culture of safety, operational excellence, accountability, and customer service.
- Manage laboratory space utilization, equipment onboarding, and infrastructure planning.
- Partner with Facilities, EHS, Engineering, and other organizations to support site projects and operational needs.
- Lead site improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, service delivery, and customer experience.
- Oversee asset lifecycle activities including equipment deployment, relocation, and retirement.
- Manage operational priorities, resources, budgets, and project execution to achieve business objectives.
- Coach, develop, and support team members while fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
- Utilize data, metrics, and continuous improvement practices to enhance operational performance and decision making.
The successful candidate is a collaborative leader with strong operational, communication, and problem-solving skills who can effectively balance strategic priorities with day-to-day execution in a dynamic technical environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Operations, Business Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
- Strong customer focus with excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with data-driven decision making, operational metrics, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated AI proficiency and the ability to leverage AI-enabled tools and ways of working to improve productivity, decision making, operational effectiveness, and customer outcomes.
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years of experience leading technical operations, engineering support teams, laboratory operations, facilities operations, or a related environment.
- 3+ years of people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, and team development.
- Experience managing competing priorities in a dynamic technical environment.
