Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology is responsible for the laboratory testing of blood, urine, and body fluids for disease diagnosis and health maintenance. Utilizing the latest advances in computer technology, the Division maintains millions of dollars of state-of-the-art automated equipment at its laboratory sites and services hospitals, nursing homes, the Montefiore Medical Group, faculty practices, and voluntary physicians' offices at more than 40 sites. 
Under supervision of a supervisor or Senior Technologist performs all tests within the scope and responsibility of the Chemistry Laboratory according to the laboratory policy and procedure manual. Performs any related clerical duties.

Essential Functions:
•    Perform routine QC
•    Operate automated instruments
•    Manual procedures, maintain logs
•    Use all infection controls procedures
•    Ability to operate Laboratory equipment
•    Use independent judgment to solve technical and procedural problems
•    Recognize pediatric, neonatal panic values
•    Review results for consistency with demographics of patient
•    Report panic and abnormal values, proper handling with specimens’ problems (QNS, clotted, lipemic, hemolyzed)

Qualifications:
•    Associate degree required, Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technician or life sciences preferred
•    A minimum of 1 year of work experience required
•    New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technician License required
•    Knowledge of laboratory practices, QA/QC concepts and practices 
•    Use of all types of laboratory equipment: centrifuges, pipettes, microscopes, mixers, vortex mixers, computers and QC programs required
•    Must be proficient using automated and manual equipment
•    Knowledge of Laboratory information systems
