Description
Branch Member Financial Specialist I
Join OURCU: Empowering Members, Strengthening Communities
At OURCU, we do more than simply help people with their finances. We build relationships, solve problems, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors and community.
We're looking for a Branch Member Financial Specialist I to join our Vashon Branch. As a member-owned, not-for-profit credit union, we're focused on people, not shareholders. Every interaction is an opportunity to make someone's day a little easier and their financial life a little better.
If you're dependable, enjoy helping others, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and take pride in doing things right, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
As a Branch Member Financial Specialist I, you'll help members with a wide variety of financial needs while creating a welcoming, supportive experience at every interaction. In this role, you'll:
- Open and maintain member accounts, including checking, savings, certificates, and related account services.
- Assist members with account maintenance, bookkeeping questions, account research, and service requests.
- Process deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, cashier's checks, cash advances, and other financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Share and explain OURCU products and services in a way that helps members meet their financial goals.
- Answer questions, resolve concerns, and connect members with additional resources when needed.
- Process and maintain account documentation while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
- Balance your cash drawer daily and promptly resolve discrepancies.
- Assist members with services such as debit card inquiries, stop payments, online banking support, and other account-related needs.
- Prioritize competing tasks and shift smoothly between member conversations, transactions, phone calls, operational responsibilities, and team support throughout the day.
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while working in an environment where priorities can change quickly.
- Collaborate with teammates to ensure smooth branch operations and exceptional member experiences.
- Help create a welcoming environment where every member feels valued and every teammate feels supported.
You'll Love This Role If You...
The people who thrive in this role genuinely enjoy helping others and building meaningful relationships. They're dependable, adaptable, and the kind of teammates others can count on. They stay organized when things get busy, shift smoothly between priorities, and maintain a high level of accuracy even in a fast-paced environment. They bring patience, professionalism, and empathy to every interaction, whether they're helping a member solve a problem, answering a question, or supporting a teammate. Most importantly, they care about people, take pride in their work, and understand that small moments of service can make a lasting difference in someone's day.
While prior banking or credit union experience is a plus, it is not required. What matters most is your demonstrated commitment to serving others, your willingness to learn, your reliability, and your desire to contribute to a positive team culture.
Key Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Six months to two years of customer service, member service, retail, hospitality, healthcare, or related experience.
- Cash handling experience preferred.
- Excellent communication, math, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
- Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment.
- Professional attitude and conduct.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
