Job Summary
The Director of Distribution Region Operations is responsible for overseeing and directing the design, construction, operation maintenance and emergency restoration of AEP's distribution system to provide safe, timely and reliable service to customers. Ensure distribution assets are planned and operated in compliance with all applicable safety and reliability standards, contractual and tariff obligations, and all federal, state and local regulations and laws., Span of Control requirement:, Oversees MDS's of an OPCo and has responsibility for either, 1) Minimum of 800, 000 customer premise or, 2) 500, 000 customer premise plus 1 or more major functions for entire OPCo (i.e Forestry, Network, MRO, DDC, Contract Coord, etc.)Job Description
What You'll Do:
- Promote and enforce Company safety practices to safeguard employees, the general public and Company property.
- Plan, organize, coordinate and direct activities within the operating company to provide efficient, timely and economical construction, operation and maintenance of distribution assets.
- Develop tactical plans and budgets to accomplish work plans as defined in conjunction with the asset management strategies of the Company. Confer and work closely with other departments on shared roles and responsibilities to ensure success in shared performance goals.
- Maintain superior customer satisfaction with Company distribution services through the development of efficient services provided through tactful, courteous and customer sensitive employees.
- Oversee the development of distribution's annual tactical plan for the operating company to ensure that performance goals are achieved. Carry out within the assigned area of responsibility the Company's program of Equal Employment Opportunity, including its Affirmative Action obligations.
- Administer the Company's Performance Management Review and Merit Salary programs, Management Information and Policy Manual, Labor agreements, Employee Handbooks, and supplements related to assigned personnel.
- Recommend the promotion, demotion, selection, discipline and dismissal of assigned personnel.
- Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support the Company's Corporate Compliance policy.
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in distribution systems operations or related experience.
- OR Associates degree with minimum of 12 years of experience in distribution systems operations or related experience.
- OR High school diploma/GED with 14+ years of experience in experience in distribution systems operations or related experience.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in supervisory/management positions.
