As a member of MUFG’s Capital Markets Group (“CMG”), the successful candidate will be responsible for distribution of syndicated loan product to institutional and bank investors across Australia and New Zealand. The role includes direct investor coverage and active engagement with market participants. The professional will work closely with origination teams, regional MUFG distribution desks, relationship managers and product teams to execute primary and secondary loan transactions and expand MUFG’s distribution capabilities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing investor connectivity and driving distribution outcomes.
Main purpose of the role
Develop and maintain relationships with active loan market investors including institutional investors and banks
Lead the distribution of Australian and New Zealand primary syndicated loan transactions, with a particular focus on transactions originating from CMG’s Specialised Finance and Leveraged Capital Markets teams
Provide market colour and investor feedback to support client discussions
Partner with CMG colleagues and product teams to optimize transaction structures and distribution strategies
Contribute to the growth of MUFG's global private-side distribution platform
Key Responsibilities
Active coverage of institutional and bank investors across Australia and New Zealand through regular dialogue and transaction discussions
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of investor requirements in terms of mandates, risk appetite, structures and pricing
Lead distribution efforts for primary syndicated loans, including coordinating and managing bookrunning activities throughout syndication and sell-down processes
Supporting various elements of the primary distribution function, namely:
Preparing various syndication materials (i.e. invitation letters, commitment letters, syndication strategies, DebtDomain, NDAs, etc);
Sounding and physical bookrunning of investors throughout the syndication;
Assisting with transaction execution from mandate phase to financial close.
Collaborate with MUFG distribution teams, regionally and globally, to maximise distribution outcomes, obtain latest market insights and drive MUFG's OtD strategy
Opining on pricing and liquidity analysis for prospective transactions and pitch books
Preparation of underwriting applications and other internal requirements to facilitate seamless deal execution
Provide regular feedback on investor appetite, including to support client discussions
Drive various CMG strategic distribution initiatives including evaluating investor appetite for bespoke deal opportunities and building new distribution pathways
Support local secondary sales efforts including opining on the saleability of assets, identifying suitable investors and managing execution of the sale
Contribute to the maintenance of investor databases, pipeline trackers and distribution reporting
Skills and experience:
Ideally, 8+ years experience in a Syndications, Debt Capital Markets or a Coverage role at an Australian Major or a large financial institution operating in an international context
Candidates with experience in structured loan products (including leveraged or project finance) will be positively received
Strong understanding of loan syndication, debt markets and investor dynamics
Experience managing multiple transaction workstreams in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management capabilities
Degree level education – Undergraduate/Masters Degree from leading universities
