Description
Overview
The Quality Engineering Practice Lead is a senior leadership role responsible for the technical direction, growth and evolution of our Quality Engineering capability across BFSI, Energy & Utilities, and Diversified Industries.
The role will provide leadership across our technical Digital Assurance services, including Test Automation, Performance Testing, AI Assurance, and the application of AI to transform Software Testing and Quality Engineering.
This is not simply a delivery leadership role. We are looking for someone who wants to develop a practice, shape new capabilities, challenge established ways of working and help define what modern Quality Engineering should become.
Above all, we are looking for someone with genuine enthusiasm for Quality Engineering and technology: someone who is curious about what is coming next and wants to play an active role in creating it.
Responsibilities
- Quality Engineering Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical leadership and governance across modern Quality Engineering practices, ensuring they are applied effectively within client solutions.
- Act as a senior technical authority for complex client engagements and provide guidance where projects encounter significant Quality Engineering challenges.
- Capability & Strategy Development:
- Own and continually evolve the Quality Engineering capability strategy, roadmap and service portfolio. Ensure that standards, methodologies, reference architectures and reusable assets remain relevant as software engineering, AI and delivery models change. The role will define clear points of view on emerging developments, identify new capabilities for investment or market development, and establish communities that share expertise and innovation.
- Pre-Sales & Client Solutions:
- Work closely with sales leaders and client partners to identify, qualify and shape Quality Engineering opportunities, providing technical credibility throughout senior client conversations, discovery workshops, proposal development and commercial solution design.
- The role will remain hands-on where required and be partially billable, using direct client engagement to establish new Quality Engineering services, prove value in early-stage opportunities and support growth across existing accounts.
- The role will develop differentiated propositions that move client engagements beyond resource augmentation towards outcome-led Quality Engineering services and broader account growth.
- Thought Leadership:
- Act as a recognised senior Quality Engineering advisor to clients, building trusted relationships with technology, engineering and quality leaders while facilitating executive briefings, workshops and maturity assessments. The role will also strengthen the organisation’s market presence through conferences, webinars, roundtables and thought-leadership content. The role will establish a credible internal and external voice in modern Quality Engineering and AI Assurance.
- People Leadership & Development:
- Provide visible and inspirational leadership to Quality Engineering consultants by developing clear technical career paths, competency frameworks and future skills programmes that support growth across the practice.
- The role will coach emerging leaders, recognise and develop subject matter experts, and support the attraction of high-calibre talent.
- The role will foster a culture where knowledge sharing, experimentation, continuous professional development, technical excellence, curiosity and innovation are actively valued.
- Innovation & The Future of Quality Engineering:
- Lead the development of the approach to AI across Digital Assurance by identifying practical opportunities to use generative AI, machine learning and agentic AI to improve productivity, coverage, insight and quality outcomes.
- The role will translate promising concepts into repeatable and commercially viable services and accelerators, shape effective approaches for testing, validating and monitoring AI systems, and encourage disciplined experimentation across the practice so that innovation delivers measurable value and prepares the capability for future market developments.
Essential skills
- AI Assurance, Responsible AI or AI governance.
- Agentic AI or autonomous software engineering approaches.
- AI/ML model validation and testing.
- AI governance frameworks such as ISO/IEC 42001 or regulatory frameworks including the EU AI Act.
- Building technical accelerators, frameworks, platforms or reusable intellectual property.
- Conference speaking, publishing or recognised industry thought leadership.
- Building or scaling an engineering or Quality Engineering practice.
Experience
- Quality Engineering Expertise
- Significant experience within software Quality Engineering, testing or Digital Assurance
- Strong technical understanding of modern test automation approaches, architectures and frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of performance testing and performance engineering.
- Experience of Quality Engineering within modern Agile, DevOps and CI/CD delivery models.

- Strong understanding of how generative AI and related technologies can be applied within software engineering and Quality Engineering.
- Practical understanding of the opportunities, limitations and risks associated with AI-enabled testing.
- Understanding of the challenges involved in testing and assuring AI-based systems.
- Demonstrable curiosity about emerging technology and its practical application.
- Consulting & Commercial Skills
- Experience operating in a consultancy, professional services, technology services or similarly client-facing environment.
- Strong client-facing communication and stakeholder-management capability.
- Experience shaping solutions during pre-sales activities.
- Experience contributing to proposals, bids, presentations or commercial solutions.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into compelling business outcomes.
- Confidence engaging with senior technology and business stakeholders.
- Leadership
- Experience leading technical teams, capabilities, communities or practices.
- Strong coaching, mentoring and people-development skills.
- Ability to influence across organisational boundaries without relying solely on formal authority.
