EHS Engineer
Cairo, Egypt | On-site | Full-time

We are looking for an EHS Engineer to join our Cairo site. In this role, you will support the implementation and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS), and Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, ensuring compliance with local regulations, ISO standards, and IFF requirements while promoting a strong safety culture, environmental sustainability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Your Responsibilities
Safety Leadership & Culture
- Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, coaching, and awareness programs.
- Support site EHS policies, procedures, and standards.
- Lead safety campaigns, observations, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Support Safety Committee activities and action plans.
- Drive continuous improvement in site safety performance.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Conduct workplace risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and task risk assessments.
- Perform routine EHS inspections, audits, and workplace evaluations.
- Monitor compliance with local regulations and IFF EHS requirements.
- Track corrective and preventive actions and ensure timely closure.
- Support implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Support Management of Change (MOC) activities and safety reviews for new projects.
Process Safety Management
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of the site Process Safety Management (PSM) program, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Facilitate and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), including What-If, LOPA, Bow-Tie, HAC, and ATEX assessments, and drive timely closure of recommendations.
- Support Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and process safety reviews for new projects, equipment, and process modifications.
- Lead and support investigations of process safety incidents, near misses, and loss of containment events, identifying root causes.
Contractor Safety Management
- Administer contractor safety programs and compliance requirements.
- Conduct contractor inductions and site safety orientations.
- Perform contractor audits and field safety inspections.
- Monitor contractor performance and compliance with site EHS standards.
- Support permit-to-work and contractor control processes.
Incident Investigation & Continuous Improvement
- Lead and support incident investigations and root cause analysis activities.
- Develop and track corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyze trends and recommend improvement initiatives.
- Share lessons learned and best practices across the site.
Emergency Preparedness & Fire Protection
- Support maintenance and implementation of the Emergency Response Plan.
- Coordinate emergency drills and exercises.
- Support Emergency Response Team activities and training.
- Conduct inspections of fire protection and emergency equipment.
- Ensure emergency preparedness readiness and compliance.
Environmental & Sustainability Management
- Support environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.
- Coordinate waste management, recycling, and waste reduction programs.
- Support Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWL) initiatives and certification requirements.
- Monitor energy, water, waste, and environmental performance metrics.
- Support environmental permits, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in achieving site sustainability objectives and targets.
Training & Awareness
- Deliver EHS training programs for employees and contractors.
- Support new employee onboarding and EHS inductions.
- Develop awareness campaigns and safety communications.
- Maintain training records and competency matrices.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track and report EHS performance indicators and metrics.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for site leadership.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Provide recommendations to improve EHS performance.
What You Will Need
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in EHS roles within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent.
- Experience implementing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, chemical, food, flavors, pharmaceutical, or FMCG industries.
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Knowledge of What-If Analysis, LOPA, Bow-Tie, HAC, and ATEX assessments.
