POSITION PROFILE
A hotel shuttle driver's job description includes safely transporting guests between the hotel and locations like airports or attractions, maintaining the shuttle vehicle, and providing excellent customer service. Key duties involve adhering to schedules, assisting with luggage, performing pre-trip vehicle inspections, and communicating with hotel staff about guest needs and schedule changes.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES
- Safe and timely transportation: Drive guests to and from designated locations, such as airports, train stations, and local attractions, while following all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Customer service: Greet guests warmly, assist with loading and unloading luggage, and provide a friendly and helpful experience during the ride.
- Vehicle maintenance: Conduct daily pre-trip inspections to check for fuel, oil, tire pressure, and overall cleanliness. Keep the vehicle clean both inside and out.
- Scheduling and communication: Maintain a consistent schedule for pickups and drop-offs, and communicate effectively with hotel front desk staff regarding guest needs and any necessary schedule adjustments.
- Guest assistance: Respond to guest inquiries about the hotel or local area, and handle any minor issues or complaints promptly and professionally.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- The ability to safely and professionally operate a shuttle van or passenger bus in various weather and traffic conditions.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory. For larger vehicles (16+ passengers), a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement is required.
- Familiarity with local roads, traffic patterns, landmarks, and efficient use of GPS systems.
- The ability to perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections, basic maintenance checks (such as checking fluids and tire pressure), and report any issues.
- Knowledge of what to do in case of a vehicle malfunction, accident, or passenger emergency.
- A friendly, approachable, and patient demeanor is crucial for creating a positive guest experience.
- Strong verbal communication skills to greet guests, provide information, and effectively coordinate with the hotel's front desk and other departments.
