The Opportunity
The Director, Learning & Organizational Development is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously evolving learning, leadership development, career growth, and organizational development initiatives that strengthen organizational capability and support business performance.
Reporting to the Vice President, Talent Management & Organizational Development, this role leads the organization's learning and development strategy and partners closely with leaders across the business to foster a culture of continuous learning, development, and growth. The Director serves as an internal consultant, facilitator, and trusted advisor, helping teams and leaders build the capabilities necessary to support organizational priorities and future growth. This role will oversee employee development programs while partnering across Human Resources to ensure learning solutions are integrated with broader talent strategies.
Responsibilities
Learning Strategy and Capability Development
- Refine, evolve, and execute the organization's learning and development strategy aligned with business priorities and workforce capability needs.
- Design innovative and scalable learning solutions that support individual, team, and organizational effectiveness.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, aligned with Amylyx values, that encourages employee growth, knowledge sharing, and capability building.
- Evaluate emerging learning methodologies, technologies, and tools to enhance learning effectiveness and employee experience.
- Measure the effectiveness of learning initiatives and recommend improvements based on business outcomes and learner feedback.
Employee, Leadership, and Manager Development
- Design and manage development programs for individual contributors, emerging leaders, people leaders, and functional leaders.
- Establish development experiences that strengthen individual & team leadership effectiveness, coaching capability, and people management skills.
- Partner with leaders to identify capability gaps and development priorities.
- Develop resources, workshops, and tools that support leadership excellence and employee development.
- Manage external leadership assessments, facilitators, learning partners, and development vendors.
Career Development and Talent Growth
- Develop career development frameworks, growth resources, and internal development opportunities that support employee growth and retention.
- Create career pathing approaches that help employees better understand development opportunities across the organization.
- Partner with HR colleagues and business leaders to strengthen development planning and growth conversations.
- Support other enterprise talent initiatives as needed.
Performance, Organizational Development, and Team Effectiveness
- Lead employee performance management processes in partnership with HR colleagues
- Design and facilitate workshops, leadership sessions, and team-development experiences.
- Support organizational change and transformation initiatives through learning, facilitation, and capability-building interventions.
- Partner with VP, TM & OD and business leaders to drive organizational culture and employee engagement initiatives
- Partner with leaders to improve collaboration, communication, and organizational effectiveness.
Learning Operations and Program Management
- Partner with IT and Senior Director, HRIS on evaluating and managing learning technologies.
- Manage learning vendors and development resources.
- Establish annual learning priorities, budgets, and operating plans.
- Monitor utilization, participation, and effectiveness of learning programs.
- Lead multiple cross-functional initiatives and ensure high-quality execution and stakeholder engagement.
- Develop reporting and metrics that demonstrate the impact of learning and development investments.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master's degree preferred in Organizational Development, Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Leadership, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
- DiSC certification or similar preferred.
- Coaching certification preferred.
- Leadership Circle Profile certification or other 360 certification preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, Organizational Development, Leadership Development, Talent Development, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated success building and scaling learning and leadership development programs.
- Experience supporting employees and leaders in high-growth, evolving organizations.
- Experience facilitating leadership development, workshops, team effectiveness sessions, and organizational interventions.
- Ability to build strong partnerships with HR Business Partners, leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience influencing without authority and effectively navigating dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences preferred; experience in another growing, changing, or highly regulated organization considered
- Comfortable operating in an environment where responsibilities may evolve as the organization grows.
Work Location and Conditions
- At Amylyx, we proudly support remote work opportunities within the United States. However, due to business considerations related to health insurance coverage and state tax regulations, we are unable to hire employees who reside and/or work in certain states. Currently, we are not considering applicants from Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Michigan and Tennessee.
- You will be expected to travel to our corporate location in Cambridge, MA several times a year and attend other company-related events as necessary and requested.
- You must have access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at your remote location.

The pay range posted below represents our good faith estimate of compensation for this role, based on market data and internal benchmarks. The final offer may vary depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as considerations of internal equity.
