Responsible for performing a variety of warehouse operations, including receiving, stocking, organizing, picking, staging, packing, and shipping products and materials. This position may also operate manual and powered material-handling equipment such as forklifts, order pickers, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. When needed, the employee will safely operate a Company vehicle to deliver and pick up products from customers and other locations. The position requires accurate handling of products, maintaining an organized and safe warehouse environment, and providing excellent customer service during deliveries and pickups.Essential Job Duties
Warehouse Operations
- Receive, inspect, and put away inbound products in designated warehouse locations.
- Pick and pull the correct products from assigned locations and accurately stage orders for shipment or delivery.
- Load and unload products, materials, parts, and supplies as required.
- Sort and organize parts and supplies on racks, shelves, or in bins according to established procedures.
- Operate manual and powered material-handling equipment, including forklifts, order pickers, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Verify product quantities and accuracy of orders before staging, shipping, or delivery.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including processing incoming and outgoing materials.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to warehouse and delivery activities.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and housekeeping of assigned work areas.
- Follow established safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.
Delivery / Pickup Responsibilities — As Needed
- Safely operate a Company vehicle to deliver and pick up products from customers and other locations.
- Drive in a safe, courteous, and responsible manner while complying with applicable traffic laws and Company driving policies.
- Manually load and unload the delivery vehicle and verify products being loaded and unloaded.
- Verify delivered products against the order or manifest and obtain required signatures confirming receipt and accuracy.
- Make appropriate notations on manifests and provide receipts or documentation for returned products.
- Return customer returns and other designated materials to the appropriate location.
- Collect accounts receivable payments when required.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service during deliveries and pickups.
- Maintain the cleanliness and proper condition of the Company vehicle.
- Operate in compliance with applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rules and regulations, as applicable.
General Responsibilities
- Comply with established Company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Successfully complete required annual and job-specific training.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy, productivity, and attention to detail.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, management, customers, and other locations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
Education & Experience
- 6+ months of related warehouse experience.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Must qualify for Corporate insurance programs, including vehicle insurance.
- Must meet Department of Transportation (DOT) testing and physical requirements and be knowledgeable of DOT regulations.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must comply with state and local mandated requirements as well as Department of Transportation (“DOT”) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (“FMCSA”) regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Forklift certification/experience and knowledge of RF scanners are helpful.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc.
- Basic messages communicated orally. May write brief messages and keep simple records.
- Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive, and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
- Decisions generally affect one's own job or assigned functional area.
- Uses guidance/guidelines provided by supervisor/manager.
- Assignments/priorities provided by supervisor/manager.
Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to drive a vehicle most of the time.
- Must be able to sit and drive for extended periods (up to 12 hours at a time); use hands to operate machinery.
- May need to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Frequent exposure to contaminants such as fuel or exhaust. May occasionally wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
- May need to work in cramped spaces that could require getting into awkward positions.
- May be exposed to extreme temperatures, extreme lighting, and high noise levels.
- Daily travel will be required by drivers making deliveries and extensive overnight travel may be required.
