Engineering Intern - Summer 2027

WSC is seeking interns for Summer 2027 currently enrolled in a Civil or Environmental Engineering, City and Regional Planning, BioResource & Agricultural, or Construction Management program, with an interest in water and wastewater. The intern would collaborate with designers, planners, project managers, strategic communications, and technical leaders in advancing vital water, recycled water, and infrastructure investments. Under the mentorship of our senior hydrogeologists, engineers, planners, and project managers, you will gain experience on a variety of challenging and exciting water supply planning, design, leadership training, career path development, and optimization projects.

These internships will be based in one of our office locations: Portland, Folsom, San Luis Obispo, Ontario, Laguna Hills, or San Diego. 

What You Will Do

• Participate in staff, public, and client meetings.
• Modeling of water delivery systems.
• Prepare simple hydraulic calculations and analysis.
• Assist in the research, planning, and design of water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Perform technical writing and assisting with development of technical reports.
• Conduct site visits.
• Coordinate with subconsultants and vendors.
• Data entry and analysis.

• Provide general program and construction management support.

What You Bring

• Must be enrolled in a full-time program seeking a B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, City and Regional Planning, BioResource & Agricultural, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Candidates must be in good academic standing and proficient with MS Office and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interview process includes review of current transcripts (unofficial transcripts are sufficient).
• Preferred qualifications include some prior experience with AutoCAD, ESRI (GIS) and/or hydraulic modeling software.
• Experience and high performance under the pressure of deadlines.
• Proven time management skills.
• High career aspirations and a willingness to learn.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Salary Range: The pay range for this position is $25.00 to $35.00 per hour and may be more or less depending on experience.
