Outdoor Skilled Labor / Equipment Support

Description

We are seeking a dependable, safety-focused Laborer / Ground Hand to support plant and site operations through manual labor, equipment support, site maintenance, and team tasks.

This role requires stamina, adaptability, safe work habits, and the ability to work efficiently with supervisors, tradespeople, operators, and team members in a changing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance

• Assist with machine and equipment upkeep while following safe maintenance practices.
• Understand basic plant locations and support preventive maintenance as directed.
• Promptly report equipment concerns, hazards, and maintenance issues.

General Labor

• Perform outdoor and plant-site labor, including loading, unloading, digging, lifting, carrying, and moving materials.
• Assist with routine yard, production, and equipment-area activities as directed.
• Stay productive during physically demanding work in varied weather and ground conditions.

Leadership & Training Support

• Train and support lower-level operators when appropriate.
• Assist with troubleshooting and share knowledge to improve team performance.

Equipment & Tool Operation

• Safely operate basic tools and equipment, including shovels, wheelbarrows, hand tools, and power tools.
• Operate or assist with skid steers, manlifts, telehandlers, and track hoes when trained and authorized.
• Use tools and equipment safely and as directed.
• Keep tools and equipment in good condition and report damage or hazards.

Site Maintenance

• Maintain a clean, safe, organized work area.
• Sweep areas and remove debris, trash, and spills.
• Assist with basic facility and site upkeep.
• Keep tools, equipment, and work areas organized and hazard-free.

Assistance to Skilled Workers

• Assist tradespeople, operators, and maintenance personnel with assigned tasks.
• Provide tools, materials, and equipment as needed.
• Follow directions and assist with projects, repairs, maintenance, and plant operations.

Team Collaboration

• Work cooperatively with supervisors, operators, maintenance staff, and team members.
• Help complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Learn new skills and adapt as operational needs change.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Stay aware of moving equipment, vehicles, machinery, and workplace hazards.
• Promptly report hazards, incidents, injuries, and equipment concerns.
• Follow safe work and equipment-operation instructions.

Communication

• Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members.
• Ask questions when instructions or tasks are unclear.
• Promptly communicate work issues, hazards, and operational concerns.

Requirements

Schedule

This role requires flexibility to support continuous plant operations.

• Rotating shifts
• Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
• Labor-intensive experience preferred but not required.
• Basic occupational safety knowledge.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, materials, and tools
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces when trained and authorized.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to work outdoors and in hot, cold, wet, dusty, noisy, or changing plant-site conditions.
