Stockroom Clerk

Job Description:

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Coordinates the purchase, receipt, storage and shipment of stockroom materials. Maintains inventory accuracy and supports departmental and production requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinates order status and delivery schedules with vendors.
• Unloads incoming freight and checks deliveries against purchase orders, invoices and packing slips.
• Inspects materials for damage, defects and shortages; documents and reports discrepancies.
• Logs daily receipts and updates digital inventory records.
• Sorts, labels and stocks materials or stages them for production.
• Processes inventory charges and material transfers.
• Obtains freight quotes, prepares shipping documents, schedules pickups and loads shipments.
• Maintains organized stockroom areas.
• Safely operates forklifts, pallet jacks and barcode scanners.

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains shipping labels and proof-of-delivery records.
• Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.

NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:

• Vendors, suppliers, delivery drivers and freight carriers.
• Service Department and Interior Division personnel.
• Project Managers.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or GED and at least one year of relevant experience in inventory, receiving, shipping, purchasing supplies and forklift operation; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work independently.
• Accuracy in counting inventory and reviewing documentation.
• Proficiency with inventory software, spreadsheets, word processing and barcode scanners.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional judgment, integrity and a dependable work ethic.
• Regular and timely attendance.
• Ability to complete required equipment training.
• Forklift certified (preferred)
