Job Description
The Feature Analyst is accountable for facilitating the clarification of business requirements and translating requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria and related artefacts. Work in close collaboration with business stakeholders and the agile team to ensure end-to-end understanding of epics, features and the value delivered. Support technical analysis activities including data analysis, system integration analysis and reporting requirements to support effective solution delivery within an agile squad environment.API Enterprise | Group Technology & Transformation
Support prioritising and planning work activities within the agile team.
Facilitate and participate in discovery/inception workshops to create a shared understanding of user needs and the potential technology solution required to deliver to these needs.
Identify and document user journeys which map out how a user navigates through the system.
Define problem or opportunity statements
Work in close collaboration with the Product Owner (PO) to define and maintain the backlog.
Work ahead of the team to gain clarity on upcoming requirements before the next iteration.
Facilitate requirement analysis through elicitation workshops and design thinking sessions.
Demonstrate how product features address customer needs and deliver tangible business and customer value.
Decompose features into user stories and acceptance criteria.
Deliver artefacts using analysis techniques.
Create user journeys and system workflows demonstrated through wireframes, detailed process maps and functional prototypes to visually demonstrate feature requirements and support stakeholder validation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Management, UI/UX, Technology, Support, Testing and SMEs to gather and analyse functional and system requirements and produce user story requirements.
Groom user stories through interviews, workshops and analysis procedures to ensure cohesive delivery of requirements.
Quantify the value of recommended solutions.
Provide the Product Owner with information required for prioritisation and estimation.
Facilitate and participate in iteration meetings including backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives.
Review and refine user stories with Product Owners, Developers and Testers.
Support showcasing stories and sprint outcomes to stakeholders.
Assist with prioritisation of user stories and acceptance criteria to optimise business value.
Support agile practices and encourage continuous improvement of service delivery.
Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, sprint reviews, daily stand-ups and PI planning.
Seek feedback from the team to continuously improve user story development and agile practices.
Clarify the goals and business value of Minimum Marketable Features (MMF) / Minimum Viable Products (MVP).
Provide regular feedback by testing deliverables against user story acceptance criteria.
Validate that product delivery aligns with business goals and intended outcomes.
Collaborate with technical teams to analyse and document API and system integration requirements, including interaction flows and data mappings.
Support reporting and analytics initiatives through Tableau dashboard creation, reporting and data visualisation.
Analyse end-to-end business processes, system interactions and data flows across integrated systems and platforms.
Create testable acceptance criteria.
Support system testing activities including testing approaches, test scenarios and test case development.
Support validation of API integrations, data accuracy and reporting outputs during testing activities.
Collaborate with the team to deliver against backlog commitments.
Create a shared understanding of product intent and requirements across the squad.
Collaborate with developers, testers and UX teams to ensure business context is clearly understood and quality standards are achieved
Requirements: Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Matric and relevant tertiary qualification | BA / IT qualification
Business Analysis certification (Advantageous)
5 years plus years of experience as a business analyst or systems analyst in senior / strategic role
Agile experience, with an understanding of the methodology and its principles
Solid understanding and in-depth knowledge of Business and IT capabilities
High level understanding of the architectural landscape
Solid understanding of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), REST, SOAP, GraphQL, JSON, XML, and API design standards
Data Model Design & Management, Cross-functional Collaboration & Governance & Quality
Insurance Product Expertise
Strong technical knowledge and proven business and systems analysis skills at a senior level
Experience in JIRA / Confluence / Figma / MIRO
Business Process Modelling
Experience in data interpretation
