Senior Graphic Designer

National Development, a leading real estate investment, development, and management company, is seeking a full-time Senior Graphic Designer to join our high-performing Marketing & Communications team in Newton, MA. We're looking for a versatile designer who loves both the art and strategy of visual storytelling. This is a hands-on, collaborative role that helps shape the visual identity of both our company and the properties we own.

The ideal candidate pairs strong foundational design skills (Adobe Creative Suite) with curiosity for emerging tools (Canva, Claude, Figma, Adobe Firefly, etc.). This role reports to the Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications and is hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days/week in office.

As a Senior Graphic Designer, Your Essential Responsibilities Include:

Corporate Brand & Marketing

• Serve as the primary graphic design resource for National Development, helping maintain and evolve a strong, consistent corporate visual identity.

• Design and produce corporate marketing and communications materials, including presentations, brochures, reports, advertisements, invitations and other print and digital assets.

• Ensure National Development's brand standards are consistently applied across corporate communications and materials.

Property Branding & Marketing

• Lead creative development for new and acquired properties across National Development's commercial and multifamily portfolio, creating distinctive brands that reflect each property's positioning and target audience.

• Develop property brand identity systems from concept through execution, including logos, color palettes, typography and supporting visual elements.

• Translate property brands across the full range of marketing materials and touchpoints, including websites, brochures, presentations, social media templates, email, signage, marketing center graphics, business cards and stationery.

• Design environmental and experiential graphics, including building signage, wayfinding and marketing center graphics.

• Create and refine maps, site plans and aerials that clearly communicate property location, access, amenities and surrounding context.

• Manage relationships with property and lifestyle photographers and maintain the company's photo and digital asset library.

Brand Tools, Templates & Innovation

• Make it easier for employees across the company to create professional, on-brand materials by developing accessible templates, tools and brand resources for both National Development and individual properties.

• Build and manage user-friendly systems in platforms such as Canva that allow employees to create frequently needed materials, including presentations and other communications, while maintaining established brand standards.

• Train and support employees in using these tools effectively, helping expand design capabilities across the organization without requiring every project to flow through the graphic designer.

• Be curious about emerging design, AI and productivity tools and proactively identify, test and recommend new solutions that can improve quality, increase efficiency and make strong design more accessible across the company.

• Balance the use of professional design platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite with newer tools and technologies, selecting the right solution based on the project, audience and business need.

Collaboration

• Collaborate closely with colleagues across Marketing & Communications, Investments, Development, Asset Management and Property Management to understand business objectives and translate them into effective visual communications.

• Manage multiple corporate and property brands and projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of design, accuracy and brand consistency.

You create high-quality corporate and property marketing materials, build distinctive property brands, and develop systems that help colleagues across the company create polished, on-brand materials efficiently and consistently.

What You Bring to Us:

• 5+ years of professional graphic design experience, preferably in real estate, architecture, or a related field.

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), paired with a willingness to use other platforms when they are better suited to the business need.

• Familiarity with, or enthusiasm to explore, tools such as Canva, Gamma, Figma and AI-powered design and productivity platforms.

• Strong understanding of typography, layout, brand systems and how to translate a visual identity across print, digital and environmental applications.

• Experience developing and managing multiple brands simultaneously.

• Ability to create templates, guidelines and systems that make brand standards easy for non-design professionals to understand and use.

• Curiosity about emerging technology and a practical mindset for identifying tools that can improve quality, efficiency and accessibility.

• Familiarity with mapping and site planning tools, such as Google Earth, GIS platforms, or Adobe Illustrator for map rendering and annotation.

• Exposure to environmental or signage design preferred.

• Basic knowledge of digital design, email platforms, or light video editing a plus.

• Organized, detail-oriented, collaborative and comfortable balancing hands-on design work with training, systems development and experimentation.

• A portfolio showcasing relevant design work is required for consideration.
