ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities.  We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better.  It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

Community Housing Support Worker

Alice Springs, NT | Full Time | SCHADS Level 4

Why this role matters

The Todd Street program provides more than housing. It offers safety, stability and a chance for people to rebuild their lives with dignity. Many residents are navigating trauma, homelessness, cultural disconnection and complex challenges. Your presence helps create a place where people feel respected, supported and welcomed without judgement.

This role is an opportunity to walk alongside residents at a time when they are working hard to regain stability. Every conversation, every welfare check and every moment of support contribute to someone feeling seen, valued and encouraged. If you find purpose in helping people, feel safe, connected and confident in their future, this work will speak to you.

About the role

As a Community Housing Support Worker, you will support residents living in transitional housing while ensuring the property remains safe, well maintained and welcoming. You will build positive relationships with residents, help them settle in, respond to day-to-day needs and ensure tenancy requirements are met in a respectful and supportive way.

Your work will include tenancy management, welfare checks, resident engagement, safety monitoring and coordination with contractors. You will also contribute to a calm and respectful environment by responding to maintenance issues, supporting new intakes and ensuring records are kept up to date.
