Job summary

The Associate Cloud FinOps Manager plays a key mid-tier role in supporting the financial and operational performance of CDW’s small to mid-tier customer accounts. This position focuses on developing and maturing FinOps capabilities while supporting senior Cloud FinOps Managers in delivering governance, analytics, optimisation strategies, and value-led customer engagement.

The role contributes to continuous improvement through detailed analysis of cloud expenditures, identifying cost-saving opportunities, supporting forecasting and budgeting processes, and helping customers adopt best practices. While guidance will be provided, the Associate Cloud FinOps Manager is expected to demonstrate growing independence and ownership of customer deliverables, ensuring strong financial stewardship across assigned accounts.

What you will do

• Sales Support: Collaborate closely with our sales organisation in pre-sales activities to drive new business opportunities. Support sales teams by providing technical insight, baseline analyses, and introductory FinOps materials.
•  Assist in crafting proposal content that highlights the value of Cloud FinOps for small to mid-tier customers.
• Strategic Planning: Support senior team members in developing cloud financial strategies tailored to small and mid-tier clients. Assist in establishing governance frameworks that ensure effective cost control and value realisation.
• Customer Collaboration: Engage with customers to understand their cloud usage patterns, cost drivers, and business goals. Provide analysis and recommendations that help optimise costs and improve visibility.
• Technical Advice: Contribute to optimisation initiatives by helping analyse resource utilisation, configuration efficiency, tagging hygiene, and commitment strategies.
• Advanced Analytics Support: Assist in producing usage trend analysis, anomaly detection, forecasting support, and cost modelling for customer accounts.
• Reporting & Dashboards: Prepare and maintain financial reports, dashboards, optimisation summaries, and KPI metrics for assigned accounts.
• Training & Education Support: Help create training materials and support senior team members in delivering FinOps education workshops to customers.
• Relationship Building: Build strong working relationships with customer contacts, partner teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure collaborative engagement.
• Event Participation: Attend internal and customer-facing sessions to support the promotion of CDW’s Cloud FinOps capability.
• Product Development Support: Contribute ideas and operational insight to help improve and mature CDW’s Cloud FinOps services.
• Continuous Learning: Stay informed on cloud pricing, industry trends, optimisation techniques, and emerging FinOps disciplines including GreenOps, SaaS optimisation, SAM, and ITAM.
• General Responsibilities: Perform duties as required by the evolving needs of customer accounts and CDW’s service model.

What we expect of you

• Solid experience working with cloud technologies across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with an understanding of how services are architected, consumed, and billed.
• Strong grasp of cloud financial management disciplines, including cost allocation, budgeting and forecasting, optimisation strategies, and operational reporting.
• High level of analytical capability, with the ability to interpret technical, financial, and usage data to produce meaningful insights for customers.
• Familiarity with platforms such as CloudHealth, AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, or a clear ability and willingness to develop deep expertise in these tools.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and financial information into clear, actionable guidance for stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership and C‑level customer executives.
• Highly organised and detail‑driven, capable of supporting multiple customers and workstreams in parallel while maintaining accuracy and quality.
• Collaborative mindset, able to work effectively with senior FinOps practitioners, engineering teams, and cross‑functional stakeholders to drive measurable outcomes.
• Beneficial but not essential: exposure to GreenOps, SaaS optimisation, Software Asset Management (SAM), or IT Asset Management (ITAM).

• Self‑motivated, accountable, and committed to continuous professional development, including cloud and FinOps certifications.
