Description

Use Your Power for Purpose

At Pfizer, our purpose is to deliver breakthroughs that change patients’ lives. Your work will have a profound impact on improving patients' lives globally. Whether you are involved in discovery sciences, ensuring drug safety and efficacy, or supporting clinical trials, you will leverage cutting-edge design and process development capabilities to accelerate and deliver best-in-class medicines to patients worldwide.

What You Will Achieve

We are seeking a highly motivated, collaborative Scientist with solid hands-on expertise in molecular biology and mammalian cell culture, paired with bioinformatics and coding capabilities to join our Molecular and Cellular Technologies team in Bothell, WA. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, characterization, and data-driven understanding of mammalian cell systems used to support biologics discovery and development. This role is ideal for a scientist who enjoys working at the interface of the bench and computation: designing experiments, generating high-quality biological datasets, building reproducible analysis workflows, and translating complex results into actionable scientific insights.

The successful candidate will bring scientific curiosity, technical rigor, and a collaborative mindset. They will be comfortable moving between the lab bench and data analysis environments, building reliable workflows, interpreting results, and communicating insights that support informed decision-making. This individual should enjoy learning new technologies, improving processes, and working across disciplines to solve complex biological and data-driven problems.

This role will work closely with colleagues in cell line development, molecular biology, bioinformatics, data science, automation, bioprocess development, and project leadership. The Scientist will be expected to contribute to study design, data generation, analysis strategy, interpretation, and communication of results across multidisciplinary teams.

How You Will Achieve It

In this role, you will:

  • Design, execute, and analyze molecular biology experiments to support cell line development, clone characterization, gene expression analysis, and biological mechanism-of-action studies.

  • Culture, maintain, and characterize mammalian cell lines using appropriate aseptic technique, experimental controls, and documentation practices.

  • Apply molecular and cellular techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR/ddPCR, cloning, sequencing library preparation, transfection, cell-based assays, and protein or transcript-level characterization.

  • Generate, organize, and interpret high-dimensional biological datasets, including transcriptomic, genomic, proteomic, or other omics data, as appropriate for project needs.

  • Develop, maintain, and improve reproducible bioinformatics workflows and data analysis scripts using languages such as Python and/or R.

  • Analyze experimental and omics datasets using statistical, visualization, and computational approaches to identify biological patterns, process-relevant drivers, and actionable hypotheses.

  • Partner with laboratory scientists, data scientists, bioinformaticians, automation specialists, and project teams to integrate experimental and computational insights.

  • Clearly communicate study designs, results, limitations, and recommendations through presentations, technical reports, data visualizations, and cross-functional discussions.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks, code repositories, and internal knowledge management systems.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to automate analyses, improve data quality, strengthen reproducibility, and accelerate decision-making.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • M.S. in molecular biology, cell biology, bioengineering, computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, biotechnology, or a related discipline with 4+ years of experience; or B.S. with significant relevant industry or academic experience with 6+ years of experience.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, including maintenance, passaging, transfection or transduction, assay execution, and troubleshooting.

  • Strong working knowledge of molecular biology techniques used to interrogate DNA, RNA, and/or protein expression.

  • Experience analyzing biological datasets using coding or scripting approaches in Python, R, or a comparable scientific computing language.

  • Ability to work with structured experimental metadata and maintain high standards for data integrity, traceability, and reproducibility.

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, data visualization, and interpretation of complex biological data.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary project teams.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with RNA-seq, single-cell analysis, targeted sequencing, NGS data processing.

  • Experience developing reproducible pipelines using workflow tools such as SQL, Nextflow, Linux/Unix environments, or cloud computing platforms. Familiarity with AI-based tools is a strong plus.

  • Familiarity with CHO or other production-relevant mammalian cell systems, recombinant protein expression, clone screening, cell line stability, or bioprocess development.

  • Experience with laboratory automation, high-throughput experimentation, data management systems, or electronic laboratory notebooks.

  • Ability to bridge experimental biology and computational analysis by designing studies that generate decision-ready datasets.

  • Track record of scientific contributions through publications, presentations, internal reports, patents, or cross-functional project impact.
