Position Overview:
The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for driving business growth by building strong relationships with existing customers and acquiring new accounts. The role requires a blend of market understanding, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to convert opportunities into sustainable business. By working closely with channel partners and engaging deeply with the market, the incumbent will identify customer challenges and deliver innovative, value-driven solutions.
Job Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Lead Generation
Identify and develop potential customers across Education & Research (Life Science and Material Science) and pharmaceutical segments through referrals, networking, cold calls, and other prospecting methods.
2. Market Development
Explore and develop new markets while strengthening presence in existing territories.
3. Product Knowledge
Develop strong knowledge of Hitachi Electron Microscopy products and applications.
Stay updated on competitor products, positioning, and market trends.
4. Customer Engagement
Build and maintain long-term customer relationships.
Understand customer requirements and propose appropriate technical and commercial solutions.
Engage customers through regular communication, including product updates, email campaigns, events, and activities.
5. Sales Presentations
Conduct effective product and solution presentations, clearly articulating features, benefits, and value propositions.
6. Negotiation & Closure
Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and contracts in line with company policies.
7. Reporting & Data Management
Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline status.
Ensure timely and regular reporting to management.
8.Market Intelligence
Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and new product developments.
Share relevant insights with management and internal teams.
9. Marketing Support
Actively participate in marketing activities such as conferences, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and user meetings.
10. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Sales, Service, Application, and Administration teams to ensure customer satisfaction and business success.
11. Travel
Travel extensively (60–70% of the time) within the assigned territory to manage existing accounts and develop new customers.
Skills:
Relevant sales experience in Education & Research (R&D) segment is preferred.
Strong time management skills with a proactive and structured approach to work.
Ability to work effectively in a matrix organizational structure.
Strong analytical thinking, commercial acumen, and understanding of sales performance and P&L concepts.
Demonstrated success in selling Electron Microscopy solutions such as Table-Top Microscopes, SEM, FESEM, TEM (120 kV & 200 kV), and FIB systems.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
High level of motivation with a strong drive to exceed targets.
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, competitive, and dynamic environment.
Fluency in English and the local regional language.
Experience: 3–5 years of experience in sales of scientific instruments, analytical equipment, life science research tools, or similar capital equipment.
Education: Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electronics, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
