From sample to knowledge to results, the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry business develops and manufactures leading-edge chromatography and mass spectrometry instruments, consumables, and software solutions for customers working in the analytical sciences (routine testing markets) and scientific research. Our complete workflow solutions enable productivity and efficiency for customers performing food and beverage testing and manufacturing, environmental and industrial testing, biopharma QA/QC, toxicology, and anti-doping. For scientific research customers, our products support a range of focus areas, including proteomics, metabolomics, drug discovery, and clinical research.

As an Account Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll support sales growth and customer success for our advanced analytical and scientific instruments. Working in scientific instrument solutions, you'll help customers make informed decisions in research, quality control, and process improvement. You'll develop and expand customer relationships while representing our comprehensive portfolio of instruments, consumables, and services across diverse markets including pharmaceutical, environmental, industrial, food safety, healthcare, and academic research.
A Day in the Life:
Develop and grow customer relationships by understanding scientific, technical, and business requirements and providing consultative solutions across our portfolio of analytical instruments, consumables, and services. Build and execute strategic sales plans, identify new opportunities, deliver compelling presentations, negotiate effectively, and collaborate with internal teams to drive customer success and achieve sales objectives.
What to expect:
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve growth objectives.
- Build, maintain, and expand relationships with new and existing customers.
- Understand customer laboratory workflows, applications, and business needs.
- Provide consultative guidance on analytical instrumentation, consumables, and services.
- Identify and develop sales opportunities across pharmaceutical, environmental, industrial, food safety, healthcare, and academic research markets.
- Deliver technical and commercial presentations to customers and stakeholders.
- Manage negotiations and support customers throughout the sales process.
- Maintain accurate opportunity and customer information using CRM systems such as Salesforce.
- Collaborate effectively with internal commercial, technical, and service teams.
- Travel up to 70% to support customers and business development activities.
Keys to Success:
Education
- Master's degree plus 5 years of sales experience in analytical instrument markets or equivalent laboratory experience.
- Preferred fields of study include Chemistry, Biology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific field.
Experience
- Sales experience within analytical instrument markets or equivalent laboratory experience.
- Experience developing and executing strategic sales plans.
- Experience using consultative selling and negotiation approaches.
- Experience building and maintaining strong customer and internal stakeholder relationships.
- Experience working effectively in collaborative environments.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Fluency in German and English is required; French language skills are beneficial.
- Strong technical knowledge of analytical instrumentation and applications.
- Understanding of laboratory workflows and customer requirements across key market segments.
- Effective consultative selling and negotiation skills.
- Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Project management and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency with CRM systems such as Salesforce and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to develop trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 70%.
