Role: API Solution Architect – Node.js

We are seeking an experienced API Solution Architect with strong Node.js expertise to design, develop, and modernize enterprise-scale API solutions. This role will lead the architecture of secure, scalable, and high-performing APIs while driving API transformation and integration initiatives across cloud-native platforms. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Node.js, API architecture, microservices, and modern integration patterns, along with experience designing agentic API migration factories utilizing chained LLM-driven pipelines with human-gated PR reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and lead the design of scalable, secure, and high-performance RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and event-driven integrations using Node.js, NestJS, Express, and Fastify.
  • Design and deliver agentic API migration factories using chained LLM-driven pipelines with human-gated PR reviews to accelerate legacy-to-modern API transformation initiatives.
  • Author and govern custom GitHub Copilot Skills and AI-assisted engineering accelerators as reusable delivery artifacts across programs and teams.
  • Establish and promote Open API Specification (OAS)-first development workflows, standards, and governance across NestJS, Fastify, Express, Lambda, and serverless architectures.
  • Define enterprise API standards, architectural patterns, governance frameworks, and best practices for scalability, maintainability, and reuse.
  • Partner with product owners, engineering teams, enterprise architects, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into modern API-led solutions.
  • Drive cloud-native API architectures aligned with enterprise integration strategies across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.
  • Implement and enforce API security best practices, including OAuth2, JWT, SSO, encryption, rate limiting, and threat mitigation controls.
  • Lead API lifecycle management processes including design, documentation, versioning, deployment, observability, and governance.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and integrate API management platforms such as Apigee, Kong, AWS API Gateway, MuleSoft, or equivalent technologies.
  • Guide development teams on microservices architecture, domain-driven design, event-driven systems, and asynchronous communication models.
  • Establish observability, monitoring, performance engineering, and scalability testing frameworks to ensure APIs consistently meet SLAs.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and architectural guidance for engineering teams focused on modern API development and AI-assisted engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and platform engineering teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, automated quality controls, and infrastructure-as-code practices.

 Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5+ years in Solution Architecture, Principal Architecture, or Enterprise Architecture roles.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Express.js, NestJS, and Fastify.
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale API platforms and integration architectures.
  • Proven experience modernizing legacy applications and APIs using cloud-native and microservices-based approaches.
  • Experience building or leveraging LLM-powered automation, AI-assisted development frameworks, GitHub Copilot customization, or agentic engineering workflows.
  • Deep understanding of REST, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSocket’s, and event-driven integration patterns.
  • Strong knowledge of API security, authentication, authorization, rate limiting, caching, and governance frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, serverless architectures, and container orchestration technologies.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, or equivalent platforms.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Lean, DevOps, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Architect.
  • Experience implementing enterprise AI platforms, generative AI solutions, and LLM orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience developing and governing custom GitHub Copilot Skills, Prompt Engineering standards, and AI development accelerators.
  • Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Event Bridge, or other event-streaming technologies.
  • Familiarity with observability platforms such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or New Relic.
  • Experience with API monetization, developer portals, and API product management.
  • Background supporting large-scale enterprise digital transformation, financial services, telecommunications, technology, or consulting environments.
